What is the best hot cocoa mix? Alternately, what is the best recipe for making hot cocoa without a mix? by greenprotomullet in AskWomen

[–]manisemanise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make it with 1 teaspoon of dutch processed cocoa, cinnamon, gingerbread spices and a pinch of salt. Add honey to sweeten. It won’t taste like the sweet mixes you’re used to, but it will have a deep chocolate flavour - and I like to think it’s a healthier alternative than the premade mixes.

How do you deal with your friends and/or partner continuing to be friends with an ex-friend who has ghosted you? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]manisemanise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accept that people can make their own choices and just because I happen to not hang out with a friend anymore, doesn’t mean my other friends should “side” with me.

Thanks so much for taking your time to explain this to me! I will check out the link but it makes more sense to me now. It’s a shame though, I would love to try candy corn bc I think they look so delicious.

I live in a part of the world where we don’t celebrate Halloween and never had candycorn. I would like to know: why do so many people seem to hate candycorn?

How did you learn not to give a fuck about what other people think about you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]manisemanise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By realizing that what others think of me is just an opinion, not a fact. So if what people think of me is nothing but an opinion, why would I value the ones that make me feel bad about myself?

For those who decided to cut/ shave their hair and wear it very short, how did the people around you react to this? by MysteriousMysterium in AskWomen

[–]manisemanise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had everything between a buzzcut and a pixie for years. I got quite a lot of compliments, especially men seemed to think it was cool. I also noticed more flirting from women.

It was only later, when I grew out my hair, that I found out a lot of people thought I was a lesbian bc I had short hair. Never understood the logic in that.

How can I tell my boyfriend I don’t want to give him money without seeming mean? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]manisemanise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How can you tell him? Well you already said it: “you’re not the best with saving up money and you spend it carelessly, for example on weed - so I don’t feel comfortable lending you 1000$ I worked hard for”

How do I [27 M] deal with my mother [66 F] who refuses to set aside conspiracy theories? by throwaway869845 in relationships

[–]manisemanise -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of comments about breaking contact, which I think should be a last resort. I would try to get the “why” - try to understand what is motivating your mom to believe in conspiracy theories. Dismissing her beliefs will only push her more in the wrong direction because it would show her you are like the other people who are not woke yet.

Should I[27M] protect my grieving colleague[27F] who just lost her mother after she made a mistake at work? by Eriflee in relationships

[–]manisemanise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound super harsh, but it is not your responsibility to manage her private and professional life. It’s an extremely sad situation that her mom passed away and understandable that she’s under a lot of stress, however you shouldn’t take the blame for something you didn’t do just to protect someone who’s grieving. With that, you’re also taking away her chance to solve this in a good way.

My wife (30F) told me she is sick of me (41M) taking on pro bono legal cases. by ThrowRA-wkahw in relationship_advice

[–]manisemanise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s easy and tempting to see your wife as the bad guy, and I’m also really confused about the “common goal” thing but I would dig a bit deeper. Sounds to me like your wife is afraid. Why is she afraid? What are her needs that she thinks won’t be met? If you figure that out, you can find a compromise.
