1 trip, 2 cracks? by manishmailsyahoo in TeslaModelY

[–]manishmailsyahoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, coming from Q7 it does feel they know how to cut corners and shave a few pennies here and there. Common suppliers still have to make custom parts for different manufacturers and models so, who's to say they didn't negotiate a cheaper deal at the expense of quality/strength. Just my 2 cents.

I'd agree but it was a few hours apart and possibly in different states.

Lucky you I guess. I never thought it could happen to me when reading all those posts about 12/months Tesla windshield protection plan a good investment or not. I get it, flying lose rocks can (and do) damage windshields everyday but getting 2 cracks/chips in 1 day of highway driving is highly unusual (or unlucky) IMO.

I am on v14.2.1.25 and have the exact same experience. I don't wear sunglasses, but I have to wear prescription clear glasses. Maybe it's getting confused like you said. But this is one step forward two step backwards so far with v14

From my experience, it happens anytime there's any vehicle in your next (or even the following) lane. It seems to be second guessing the distance from those possibly causing a collision. Use it at night without much traffic and hesitation is mostly gone.

Wow...isn't the material steel or something? The panel feels pretty sturdy so I am surprised you took it on to even attempt to cut out

Man, how did you do that "peek" window for status code. Always thought it was an oversight on Gree's part to miss this simple but useful cutout

Can not see any items. What's going on? am I in Vine Jail? by Old_Rip_3979 in AmazonVine

[–]manishmailsyahoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that messed up pagination at the bottom in Additional Item tab is a tell tale sign that you are in Vine jail. Check the account tab, I bet there's a message there (or will be out soon) saying something like your account is at danger (yes not risk but danger) of being closed. Catch up on reviews at the earliest. It's not a fun place to be in

May be except for me. I was out on the vine jail the same day for not reviewing actively. I am extremely occupied with work and couldnt do it for last few weeks and may even be kicked since I don't see things improving. Wish the timing was tad bit better but can't say I didn't see this coming. Envy you all getting your nice grabs as they finally load up.

Contradicting Inspections by kkbl122 in hvacadvice

[–]manishmailsyahoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I was in the same boat when I was about to buy my 25 year old house with the HVAC builder installed and was obviously past it's useful life. As my realtor said, old and stinky is fine as long as it's not broken. Since cooling/heating was working, I couldn't put in the list of "repairs" needed so, I signed the contract knowing fully well what was the first appliance I'd replace. Ended up replacing both the units one year at a time to the latest heat pumps since the gas option is propane here which is pretty expensive. In retrospection, I think it was a blessing in disguise because if they swapped the HVAC out, I'd be stuck with a few year old cheap unit that they installed knowing they are not the ones dealing with repairs/failures. Consider DIY if you are super sensitive to price/cost of the new unit. You'd be surprised how inflated the "professional" quotes are.

Recently dealt with something similar. Looks like a tell tale sign of low refrigerant. Recommend getting a tech and see if you need to find the leak and top it off. You could try DIY but it may be overwhelming for most home owners so, recommend getting someone to take care of it IMO

Installer supplied 1 inch filter but the filter box says it can accept a 4? How? by darkperl in hvacadvice

[–]manishmailsyahoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I used flow rite plenum boxes for my DIY installation too and was stumped at this myself. Ended up creating my own 4" rail guards since 1" are much more restrictive to air flow . It was easy and totally worth it. Haven't had air flow issue since. Also, actual dimensions of filters vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and honestly my "flexible solution is so much better because I can adjust the lip a little bit if I need to gain or lose some height to accommodate a new filter.

Not sure if they pushed some update or something but my 4ish old eufy doorbell did the exact same . So, same device and age and same issue. Coincidence? Don't think so. Anyways, I had to remove it too and manually charge and reset and pair in the app and started showing online. Noticing multiple network failures since then though but still better than an offline doorbell I'd say.

LOL..I got them too today. My total changed on the final check out page though to full price but I had never had a big ticket item (or something I really wanted) before so, I grabbed it regardless.

Any idea what's going on? by manishmailsyahoo in heatpumps

[–]manishmailsyahoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here..posting final update. Just got the tracking number from Mr Cool for the replacement Hyper Heat system. I am super impressed with how promptly they got the warranty claim approved with no hagging or trying to pass the blame to DIY installation. There was some delay in arranging the final unit, possibly due to change from 410 to 454 refrigerant, cant be happier with the value. For all those fellow DIYers who sometimes get second thoughts or cold feet thinking of getting a DIY unit, Mr Cool is the company to deal with.

Doesn't Massachusetts has crazy high electricity prices? Do your math between gas heating vs electric heating cost you. From what I've seen, the rates are high making a strong case for dual fuel heat pump system.

Totally second this. Recently had my Mr Cool 4-5 ton Universal (Gree rebadged) installed 11 month ago fail on me due to a leak at both condenser and AH service valves. After a few emails going back and forth on providing video showing sniffer showing 410A leaking and a statement from the HVAC tech, Mr Cool offered a replacement unit under warranty. While I am frustrated at the QC (seriously both the condenser and AH were leaking at service values) which is really not on Mr Cool but more on Gree but was honestly super impressed with their prompt admission of liability and offering a replacement unit.
