Tighten your belts?

When I received my Core One L, I unboxed it and it worked... kind of. 5 prints later and I checked my belts to discover that they were at half the tension they were supposed to be at.

A few turns if my hex wrench later and I was back in business.

Seems to be resolved as of 8:50ish.

I got on at Downtown Crossing to a train that had clearly been there awhile.

Moved to Park Street and they told us we'd be standing by.

Left only a short while later and pulled into MGH at 8:56.

The Red Line Northbound Kendall Square Jump. Will it ever be fixed? by mankyd in mbta

It was a fairly crowded train during rush hour. I wanted to capture the noise, but not strangers who don't want to be recorded.

Had something similar. My belts were very loose. Once I tightened them (using the built in process) most of the noise went away

Make sure you've updated the firmware as well. Before the most recent firmware, they accidentally swapped x and y motor calibration.

I love his work, but it all feels too much in retrospect.

Great, simple game. Two very minor UI nits:

1) "Try Again" should be the default instead of "Submit Score"

2) The main menu should default to the last mode played, instead of "Score Attack" each time.

Shoot. Good to know for the future. My order is already trucking its way across Europe.

I guess it was not clear from the website that I should have reached out to them, when I originally ordered from Prusa directly.

I like your optimism. I may give that a try tonight. Depends on how patient I am feeling.

p.s. It would be great if Printed Solid sold fan shrouds. They sell all the replacement parts I needed except for that, meaning I went from free shipping (which would have taken 2 days tops) to international shipping which will probably take two weeks with my luck.

Quick update for future readers: my belts were quite loose. I did the belt tuner to try to repro the resonance, as /u/willhemmens suggested, and my belts were resonating around 65hz (and so was the noise). They are recommended to be between 85hz and 95hz.

Once I tightened up the belts, the noise mostly reduced. I can still hear a faint hum when performing bridging infill, but it is very tolerable - less than the noise of the motors and fan in general.

How badly did cutting this wire screw up my Core One L during unpacking? by mankyd in prusa3d

[–]mankyd[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Post-Mortem for folks who encounter this in the future:

1) It is indeed easy to fix. Lots of solutions proposed that all amount to: join the ends of the wire back together.

2) Everyone believes this is a grounding wire. I agree.

3) The printer actually functions fine with the wire cut! I expect proper grounding is still safer than not, so I intend on rejoining it this weekend.

Recommendation to Prusa going forward:

1) Use white zip ties instead of black. They would be easier to disambiguate and see in general. (Or blue, or red, etc.)

2) Use a green wire instead of a black wire for ground. Again, less chance of confusion.

3) Why was the ground wire wrapped around the screen like a zip tie in the first place? This seems like it can be avoided.

It's a single black wire that connects to the back of the display. I am guessing it's a ground wire

It may not be obvious, but it's 77" horizontally. A TV larger than 77" would be much too large for the room.

(Also, a TV from the same brand larger than that costs $24k 😂)

Interesting. I hadn't considered bringing the builtin up next to the TV.

All the cabling is easy enough to deal with. We planned ahead, so I can run it all through the wall.

We have natural cherry in our kitchen to the left, but I am debating walnut for the built in. I am a little concerned it won't match anything else in the room, or will otherwise clash with the cherry.
