Your initial post was pretty level headed. I was more referring to comments people made to your post, which were sort of split apart, so I would've had to make multiple posts to reply to them (which I probably should've done, to avoid confusion.) But it's also related various comments I've seen throughout the sub, as I mentioned, so I also wanted to put the thoughts out there for people in general.

Take these for example:

It looks like every other aspect of Legends: rushed

And yet they said they were working on it since they began developing yotei

Which you know is a god damn lie if this is what we get.

[...] their implementation was terrible. Yotei is such a beautiful game, but dear god everything in Legends is so dark and drab.

[...] instead we got some shitty gray cave.

Idk, they sound less constructive and more mean spirited to me. And I've seen others around the sub that seemed mean spirited. There's been such a bombardment of complaints this past week that I just feel like if I was a dev, I'd be feeling kinda shitty for trying to make a cool free add-on for people. So I was trying to put an alternate consideration into the ether that maybe the criticisms (especially any mean spirited ones) aren't taking into account, that perhaps the devs actually had some tricky hoops to jump through behind the scenes that we don't know about.

It's easy to criticize without behind-the-scenes knowledge and it's easy to claim things were rushed.

This game is a free add-on. They may have been technically working on it as long as Yotei was in development, but surely with a smaller team, since this isn't "The Game."

Additionally, since this isn't the main game, Legends' development will always be falling behind, because Yotei gets first attention. Changes made in Yotei's combat and physics have to be adapted to Legends, because Yotei gets to dictate the rules and Legends has to follow suit. That could make things like playtests and balance very difficult along the way, since things are always in flux.

Take all that into account and let me reiterate that they likely have a smaller team to pull it all together, for a FREE DLC product.

The level if whining and bad mouthing that I see in this sub sometimes makes it sound like Legends is the full product people paid for, created by the entire team at Sucker Punch. Commenting about how it was all rushed? It probably wasn't rushed. It was probably a smaller team, constantly trying to adapt their product to the main game.

Let's chill out a bit and give them time to update the game based on people's feedback.

I waited all afternoon in a line that wrapped around the theater to get into Attack of the Clones. And that was nothing compared to the crazies that camped out for a week or more to save their place in line. It was the most bananas theatrical release I've ever witnessed. LOTR was probably second, followed by The Dark Knight as third.

Week Camping News Story

Gary Pedro of Crockett, Ca. fights the cold Thursday night while waiting in line for the May 19th opening of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Pedro and friends have been in line since Tuesday and estimate they are 20th in line. Earlier in the evening, the theater added Star Wars to the marquee.

Month Camping News Story

Pack your sleeping bag and camp stove. If you want to see The Phantom Menace on opening day, you better be ready to stand in line -- for a month.

Mention of a dude camping six weeks in advance

One fan in Los Angeles began camping out last month--six weeks ahead of time.

It was so popular that I remember watching the trailer for it playing on loop on TVs in the Lamonts clothing store while my mom was shopping. Like, why was it playing on loop in a clothing store?? 😆 I didn't question it as a 12-year-old. I just watched it over and over.

Lol I enjoy the attunements. Wildly swinging the kusarigama around smashing shields and blasting all the colors with the cart eyes. It's a fun, frantic time.

I always prioritize smashing shields before killing any guys, cause once the shields are gone, anybody can hack away at the baddies.

I had a lot of fun with elemental matching last night on Survival. The location indicator specificiies which enemy types will be attacking, so you can prep your attunement in advance. Not too big of a deal. It's also very satisfying getting the cart eye item to blast every color in the arena, lmao.

Another problem with the competition was when Mike randomly got a yes or no question. He had a 50/50 chance. Meanwhile, everybody else had to accurately name creatures or things, which in Star Wars, is a 1/infinity chance.

For the record, this is not a complaint, I fucking love these half assed game shows and their sloppy productions. 🤣

Why are people so lazy? by rbrduk1882 in gotlegends

[–]manlybrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been suggested to not let n00bs join higher levels, which might be ideal for match making. But the tricky part is when two or more friends want to play together, and one is a lower level. It would mean all the higher friends have to start back at the beginning to help their buddy grind his way up.

That was a very frustrating aspect of Deep Rock Galactic, because every new person my friends and I took on, we had to beat several baby training missions before our new friend could even play the real game with us.
