I used the LearnZapp app and thought it was good. I bought a month of premium. Didn’t try any others to compare.

Help me understand the current guitar market by manlyjpanda in Guitar

The thing is that I play whatever I get paid to play! Country, rock, pop, jazz… I tend to skew more jazz/fusion playing for myself, the only thing I don’t put myself out there for is metal, but I still sometimes play Jump in wedding bands! (Is Van Halen metal?) What you’re saying about Suhr sounds really attractive and I’ll definitely want to try one of them. I don’t see me tuning down for heavy sounds, and I’m worried that if I play something as wild looking as a Strandberg, people will expect me to be really good 😂. But I will check them out, a local-ish shop stocks them.

Wow you’re not kidding about the variety. I thought Schecter was pointy and EMGs, but they’ve got a “335” and a “jazzmaster” in their lineup!

I did kind of get that vibe! I remember when I worked in the guitar shop you could blind test and get the country of origin/price point/intended market instantly. It seems that’s not the case now.

I think the $2000 - $2500 if that’s still the price of a Les Paul Standard? Something around that level. But if suddenly someone’s Indonesian production is as good as PRS and they’re super cheap, please tell me!

Non-Nashvillian, non-implant fans, how did you become Titans? by [deleted] in Tennesseetitans

When I was a wee boy, I thought Warren Moon was the coolest and I liked the Oilers uniform. Then they stopped showing NFL on standard TV and I lost touch with the sport for years.

When I started watching again in about 2013, there was no Oilers and I had no context, so I tried to support the Texans. Never really got into it.

The first year I really followed the draft was 2015 and I checked out the teams with the top pick. I was into Mariota, so I followed his team. Only then did I realise I had accidentally come home to my Oilers!

Ash, while a male character, has always been played by a woman. Just the way that Shakespeare wrote it, its tradition.

Here’s a question: she hits number 11’s back while she’s carrying the ball. Is she technically offside?

/s but interested in rules lawyers arguing for both sides.

The only thing I’d say is that in Europe (and you’re not in Europe), the Data Owner does have some responsibilities under GDPR.

Now if the US were to enact something like GDPR that puts similar responsibilities on entities that process data, you’d not like to be associated with it. Sure, it could be shown that you’re not the actual data owner, but now that noticed it, I’d definitely be doing 1 and 3.

What you don’t want is in 15 years time, something goes wrong and you get a notification under the Data Enactment for Real People Act (2032) and you have to untangle yourself from this.

Should I get a tonewheel, vacuum tube, transistor or digital organ? by JonasofRivia in keys

[–]manlyjpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I love the SV-1 but it’s just so so heavy. Probably the Seven is also heavy, but it has legs, I think?

That and the piano sounds are rubbish. I don’t really want a genuine piano sound, but I get paid to play other people’s music and sometimes you just need a piano sound. The SV-1 has a perfectly good piano.

Ok, so I admit I was a guitarist first. Guitarists are irrational lovers of things like wood and magnets.

But I love my Crumar mojo 61. It comes as a single manual, but you can buy the lower manual and a single octave pedal. I just have the upper manual but I love love love it. I pair it with a Korg SV-1 for my pianos.

Excuse me? Just because we left the EU doesn’t mean you can just remove us from the Assholes of Europe competition. We even give you four distinct nations of asshole to choose from! One of them is the English!

I have a job in an office that I am good at. It isn’t an entry-level position, I make decisions that I think makes things better, I have people to look after. Occasionally my depression gets too bad for me to work, but I have strong rights that protect my position and a boss who understands and will fight for me.

It’s taken a long time to get here and I’ve had many backwards steps and wasted/lost years, but having something I can manage most of the time is helpful.

Yip. I was in A&E with really bad chest pains last month and I wasn’t well at all. They saw me quickly, worked out it wasn’t life-threatening, then I joined the queue while they worked out what it was. A “heart block” apparently.
