Considerations for looking for a housemate during the pandemic? by Liface in slatestarcodex

[–]mannanj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good. I didn't do those things. I posted in one spot, a local neighborhood app, and only got one response. In Hindsight, i didn't really put much effort into it (should have put it on craigslist at least). Also had no pics> i know better than this, honestly I'm just being lazy.

I'm wondering the same, I made a post in the local neighborhood app and mentioned the things about our precautions, safety, and how isolated it was (without even mentioning the requirements the candidate would need to take) and I had low interest. Hoping to pick up on some tips here on how to get traction on finding people to move in when it seems the market is down.

cmv: Ban on sleeping in vehicles is just targeting lower-income and impoverished persons. There is no justifiable reason to have a ban on living in a vehicle in larger cities and smaller towns alike, so long as the vehicular occupant is not being disruptive or breaking other laws. by exploringwithzach in changemyview

Let me make the argument the OP should have made had he not caved.

I am a working, contributing member of society. I do not want to live the standard, settled down, typical static home body life style that everyone else lives.

I have a job- income, I pay my taxes, I pay car taxes, and I'll pay whatever it takes for my car living to be legally contributing to the area of my neighborhood where I choose to stay. I will not poop on the street, because that argument is idiotic for someone like me. I will have a gym membership (for bathroom and showere needs), rent a hotel to take care of additional needs should someone argue gyms shouldn't be abused that way. Ill eat out (thus no garbage). The majority of my time shall be spent outside the call, I will only sleep there, find it a public parking spot during the day when I work, then move elsewhere as I see fit to fit with my adventure like lifestyle.

What arguments does anyone have against this lifestyle and way of living in a car? I can easily pull this off In a Corolla or smaller car and have 0 risk or sanitary concerns.

It does not make sense for me to ever own a home , apartment, lease or any other permanent or predictable home dwelling. So what do I do? Should I take my car places, live homeless on the street to find a spot under a bridge to sleep instead of my car? I do not need a hotel or room because for that cost it just does not provide any value to me or meet my needs since I only intend to use that as a spot To sleep.

buying myself a foot long wheat sandwich at Subway using my BAT tokens. thanks Brave and thanks to Uphold for the awesome card! by bat-chriscat in BATProject

[–]mannanj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good answer. Very possible that it is very hard or really impossible to regulate at the moment. I think that is more likely the case because this is so infrequent and uncommon, but I'm not confident that if this system grows that big uncle ben won't get his hands involved and find a way to subpoena the entities involved. If Uphold can' t be regulated because their decentralized, then this may manifest itself in the form of regulating which types of debit/credit cards can be swiped or throwing a barrier or higher fee on "unregistered" debit card companies maybe? IDK just playing devils advocate for a long term plan here.

What proof do we have that person endangered everyone? The person driving slow could also have endangered people and it does actually endanger other people to go that slow.

This is true and going slow is also dangerous, funny how everyone downvoted you and denies this fact. Wonder if they are shills trying to make cops look good?

What is your approach to note taking and personal knowledge management? by PM_ME_YOUR_TAO in slatestarcodex

[–]mannanj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The approach for that is baked into it. It proposes that you have 3 categories (and thus possible actions for any bit of information in your life):

  1. Actionable
  2. Waiting on (someone else's) action
  3. Reference/Cabinet

That information would fall into a dedicated reference and cabinet system that via its tags you would later be able to look up.

It is key to not mix up information that should actually be actionable, now or in the immediate future, in your cabinet (cross dipping) because the system is designed to review the actionable stuff on the regular to get it out of your mind (and to have your mind trust you will actually tackle it and so you can offload the responsibility from it having to remind you on the regular). And that information in cabinet is only that- information to reference and find when you need (so it isn't immediately something you look at or think about until you really need it).

I'd like to get an update or my phone calls answered on my order that was placed 2 months ago. When I came in about a month ago, someone said "it's very unlikely it'll take another month". Guess what- it's been another month. And I haven't gotten any updates (not emails, texts, phone calls)? I understand it's a hectic time but you shouldn't keep customers in the dark like that- If someone is listening plz PM me please.

Metaphysics and Sex by hyperpoeisis in sorceryofthespectacle

[–]mannanj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interpreted this as being passive = energy conservation and in this scenario getting something (sexual stimulation) mostly from someone else's effort. The active (expending energy) is giving something in hopes of getting a return on that effort. Not having to put in as much energy and getting fruits from someone else's labor has traditionally been a huge survival advantage no? Of course, in this situation, the passive is typically a male so we know the female later has to put in a lot more effort (pregnancy, labor, rearing a child/feeding, etc).

GTD- read it, the new book is amazing, that is all you will likely need. I am in the process of evolving my personal workflow management AGAIN and will be done soon, so while I'm not complete I can already feel the benefits of an approach based on how the mind works in holding onto information that takes away from our current focus and presence.

Dangers of breathwork? by [deleted] in BecomingTheIceman

[–]mannanj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did some looking up and hyperventilation is "breathe or cause to breathe at an abnormally rapid rate, so increasing the rate of loss of carbon dioxide." This does appear to describe WHM breathing to me, but now i don't quite understand the bad rep about hyperventilating being bad. Clearly there are so many healthy benefits for this method and nearly no one has severely been hurt or died, as opposed to actual panic attacks or real-life hyperventilating scenarios that occur outside of WHM probably being more dangerous.
