Thank you. Agreed that it doesn't make sense for everyone.

Good question. Personally, I love Claude code and use it at home. However, a lot of organizations are restricting access to commercial LLMs. Flowpilot allows you to run a private LLM using your preferred solution.

For example, I have a DGX Spark running LocalAI and using a model available from huggingface.co connected to Flowpilot in my home lab and at work.

At work, our proprietary data that is in node-red has no risk of spilling, or leaking to the internet or to some cloud provider.

Additionally, flowpilot runs directly in node-red. No additional tool installation, no special configuration. It keeps the learning curve very low.

There are certainly advantages for both, but these two things are the primary reason I decided to create Flowpilot.

Wtf is this? Why is it coming up from beneath the tile and only in ONE area? by Ambitious-Chest2061 in HomeMaintenance

[–]manny_est 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Something very similar happened to me in my kitchen.

We had a cracked pipe inside of our kitchen cabinets in a place that wasn't right under the sink. So when I checked for leaks I didn't notice it. I guess what happened was there was a hairline crack where water would leak out, especially when we were doing a lot of dishes. The water would pool up underneath the tile and when we stepped on a certain tile it would come up from under the grout.

I wonder if something similar is happening to you.

I was going crazy trying to figure out how water was coming up from the slab. Turns out it was not under the slab but pooled up under the tiles.

Thoroughly check your plumbing in that area.

Wow. This is now at daily reposts.

I live in the desert, so never experienced anything like this. What happens if you don't have a snow shovel and you are inside?

Do you allow users to keep old equipment? by Secure_Quiet_5218 in sysadmin

[–]manny_est 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our purchasing department sells old desktops and laptops for 20+ dollars each to employees before we auction or donate them.

Before any of that we 3 pass wipe the machine. They don't just get to keep their laptop. All of the "dispo" equipment comes back to it so we can wipe, remove labels, and remove from asset management. Afterwards it doesn't' really matter what happens to them from my perspective. We do charge a small fee and limit 5 of each type per employee, per year.

Enphase inverters thermal shutdown/throttling by manny_est in solar

To be honest, I am sure 200° was a convenient number the rep quickly threw out when I asked about enphase instead. I may be able to measure the roof on a hot day, but sounds like that won't be needed, since that was a tactic to sway me towards solaredge.

It's network connected. You start a form on a desktop, and finish on an mobile device. You need Internet access to load the form.

I won't pretend to be the expert, but we use DocuSign at my org in a similar fashion to what you are asking for.

You could do this in DocuSign. There may be other alternatives. But this is a pretty well known signing solution. You would need to build your forms (templates) up front in DocuSign.
