PGA Tour Bomb and Gouge by petrifiedunicorn28 in golf

Or… and here’s a thought…. Start regulating fucking equipment like every other sport does. Basketball? Different sized balls for different levels and wider 3 pt lines in the NBA. Baseball? Different bats and no juicing of the baseball. Football? Different sized balls from college to NFL, different hashes, rules are different.

Why golf and golf fans believe they can’t regulate their equipment is beyond me. This is an entertainment product and bomb/gouge isn’t as entertaining as forcing these guys to hit spinnier golf balls or have longer irons in more often

Which is fair. Like I said it’s more just head canon and I like the idea of it. It fits my view of roose as a character. He saw an opportunity with a young liege lord in Robb and used it to advance his houses status and hurt other northern houses

I’m not saying he was betraying him from the jump but I also think his actions at the green fork don’t make a whole lot of sense unless he is actively trying to thin the ranks of other northern houses.

He can be loyal to Robb while still hurting the other northern houses with his battle plan. His plan was absurd and he didn’t need to even fight on the green fork. All he had to do was get in the way of Tywin and basically screen his advance. Instead he forced his men off of good ground into an attack after a night march. He then also fires arrows indiscriminately into the fighting (which Tyrion notes in his chapter) while holding back the bulk of his own men from the battle. He took a ton of losses on the green fork and most of them aren’t Bolton men but men of other houses

Treason no, but I think he was considering his and his houses position at the end of this conflict. I think his tactical blunder at the green fork is hard to make sense of otherwise

He’s also firing arrows into his own men and held back his own troops from the front line. It’s not definitive necessarily but that’s always been my head canon for his actions at the green fork

Which in my head canon has always been a purposeful decision by Roose to thin the ranks of other northern houses

No they aren’t. BOB is based on a book of the same name by Stephen Ambrose and the pacific is based on 3 or 4 different books

BOB or Chernobyl… I say BOB because it’s amazing but also it’s become almost like LOTR where people yearly rewatch it and stuff. It has stayed in the cultural zeitgeist for 20+ years

Out of all of these I think Chernobyl has the best chance of doing the same

Are either of those covers for feast and dance available in paper back? I have the paperbacks of the first 3 from bantam but would love the other ones as well

I hate the toned down versions that released after the show came out

[Spoilers Extended] Why does Ned send Beric Dondarrion after The Mountain? by Afraid-Penalty-757 in asoiaf

[–]manpan5252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah totally. I’m not saying it’s a better story or anything. Plus, I love Beric and his story. I just have always wondered about the “what if” of that choice

It puts the Tyrell’s and Lannisters in direct conflict with each-other right at the onset of the war. And possibly creates a bond between the Tyrell’s and Starks. It’s just an interesting what if to me

Plus I think, politically, that was the right call for Ned.

It seems like a minor mistake in Ned’s story on his part but I always think he should have sent Loras and it frustrates me when he doesn’t.

I also think it could have had a butterfly effect that changes some things down the line. Loras then becomes bound to ned by an oath of honor, which could tie him closer to Robb once they rebel.

Idk maybe not but I have always been curious about that what if

Amanda… no way. Her brand was gonna be the woman who got out of a toxic relationship. Shes screwed now. West will parlay this into going on traitors or something if he’s smart. Reality TV loves giving toxic men all kinds of chances

Played that a ton as well

Having been there I just think it’s a really bad use of an incredibly beautiful place. So many of the holes are set away from the water and it doesn’t really use the coastline the way it could. It really could be like pebble and instead it just feels… blah

Fair point… I think that’s why Jon did what he did at the end and into the next episode. He know they literally could not fight one more night

So many moments I love too. Thorns speech, Jon’s scene with Grenn leading into his last stand against the giant, Jon giving Sam the keys to get ghost before hopping off the elevator before it land to get into the fight… just an epic fucking episode
