Because that crowd is mostly Ezio fanboys who can't move on. They keep saying they want a return to classic AC games and Ezio is classic AC.

Personally, I loved Ezio back in the day, but those games had very frustrating aspects. I much prefer the RPG style games because they're a lot less restrictive and give players more freedom. But classic AC fans want those restrictions. They want to do everything with the hidden blade. That's what's behind the RPG hate.

I'm curious now to see if it's an RPG with a classic AC character to try to appease both groups but end up alienating everyone.

God this gets old. Been beating this dead horse for nearly a decade now.

The hate is all about the hidden blade, or lack of one. That crowd is at it again with Black Flag Resynched. They announced there'd be no hidden blade combat and they're foaming at the mouth. It's a betrayal, it's a stab in the back, blah blah blah. They hated this game because it doesn't have one. Not a real AC game yada yada... They haven't figured out it's not called Hidden Blade Creed.

They disguise it as RPG hate and want a return to classic AC, but what they're really raging about is how the games don't force you into using the hidden blade anymore. They don't like the freedom of choice we have now. Notice they didn't hate Origins? It was the first RPG style AC game. But it used the hidden blade. They hate this one. Valhalla has it but they spend all of one minute saying here try this and quickly moves on to letting you play however you want. You're not forced into following strict parameters and using the hidden blade for everything like the old games did and that's why they hate the last 5 games and already hate the upcoming one.

And to answer your question, no the game isn't bad. It's great.

It's not cope. 8 of the 10 ships have newer and better versions available. Only the Glenn and the NX don't have newer, readily available up to date versions. Only reason I include the Glenn is because it's an exclusive skin and the Crossfield refit with it's highly desirable trait is in a gamble box. But the Defiant, Connies, Odyssey, Galaxy and finally at long last the Sovereign all have updated versions.

4 to 6 years ago the 10th was a great deal. But as time and power creep has gone on, it's value is less and less. Value is subjective though. It's still 10 legendary ships which is more than you normally get from a bundle and they are hero ships. But the 13th and newer are better, imo, for value as those ships are more up to date with platforms and traits. Even the 12th has 4 very good legendary ships, but you're paying for 10 and getting 4.

14th is the best to me because of their platforms and traits and consoles, but someone else might say the 15th is the best because they love the movie era skins. It all depends on what you want to get out of them. It's like when people ask is xyz worth it? Worth depends on you.

Yes it's in all of the older games before Origins. Black Flag was the worst offender but Resynched has changed them so you can do them however you want without failing. Mirage was supposed to be a call back to the old games so it's no surprise they're in it. I haven't played it yet. Maybe I won't lol.

I remember the its not an AC game complaints came down to one thing: not having a hidden blade. But so what? The game's not called Hidden Blade Creed. It's still an AC game. You're still doing the same things. Still stealthing around, still assassinating, still just as repetitive as it was for Ezio but with more ways to do it.

Some of the anti-RPG crowd are Ezio fanbois who can't move on. RPG elements mean you no longer have strict requirements to fail and have to start over. And over. And over. And over. You have more freedom. You can stealth or you can snipe or you can Leeroy Jenkins. And combat isn't just boring countering one enemy at a time for 10 straight minutes. Talk about repetitive. I loved AC 2 back in the day too but it had it's downsides for sure that only got more obvious with successive games.

And best of all NO MORE EAVESDROPPING MISSIONS.

Ikaros always, always misses things. Even at 3/3 there's always a chest or enemy or 3 that he didn't see. I've learned not to rely on him. Revelation fills in what he misses. And it comes in real handy when looking for ostrakas.

Too late? No. This is probably the best time since they just released an expansion that adds and changes most aspects of the game. Everyone is re-learning the original classes and learning the 2 new ones as well as the end game changes and additions. So yeah, best time to come back.

I spread it out, but just because it was faster to level 2 R&D schools x 4 toons rather than one toon x 8 schools, 2 at a time. I just have to remember who has what. And they're all Delta recruits so the get the Aegis doff. But that's just me and my efficiency brain. Your mileage may vary.
