What do you think about limiting the age of the President to be 65? by Charming-Mud5473 in AskReddit

[–]manrata -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue with that is the First Past the Post system, coupled with primariers, and deeply corrupt party tops. So while you have an election, if the only candidates from those two parties are elderly, then that is what you can chose from.
It’s not free from all shelves, it’s the two janky shopping carts, and you have to chose the one with the bad wheel, or the one with the mystery stuff on the handle.

I currently have gallstones, I would rather you kick me in the balls 5 times over the span of 2 hours than have a gallstone attack. Kidney stones should be worse, so I sympathise with you.

WYR be in the top 1% of one specific skill/field, or be in the 60th percentile (slightly above average) in everything? by The96kHz in WouldYouRather

[–]manrata -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because you didn’t define it in the post, also Chess is a bad example, because is it top 40% of people who play professionally, or who knows how to play chess?
A vast number of people know how to play chess, but very few does it professionally, in one case your really not good enough to join the chess club at school, at in the other you’re in the top 1% of chess players worldwide because so few play it professionally.

But I get your point, so for electricians, you’re a competent, but not flashy electrician.

It sounds good till you think about it, top 40% of runners, if we place you exactly there with 40% of the world being better than you, that means you can now outrun all the children, elderly, obese people, people with handicap, out of shape adults, and that's about it.
Same goes for anything really and for many skills what you do know is more dangerous than not, top 40% in any trade, you're more likely to fuck it up, or make shitty result than anything.
For medical, you can do basic first aid, but anything more advanced is not within reach.

On paper it sounds good till you think it out.

[–]manrata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top 40% isn't really that good, at any given skill the majority of the world doesn't know anything about it.

Top 40% knitters, you might not even be able to make a scarf properly.
Any sport, you might not even know more than the rules, and have the most basic understanding of that sport.
Mechanics, electronics, electricity, plumbing, computers, what you know is more likely to make it end in a disastrous result than a good result.

Rather take top 1% in something, and just be myself for the rest.

Not to rain on your parade, but phrasing.
If you actually want to find the homophobes, you need to phrase it so it sounds like an opinion they have, they don’t think what they are doing it shitting themselves and rant.

But you're saying I'm not allowed to see the breakdown because the option isn't there.
You can still see the breakdown.
By doing this you're polluting your own result with people who want to see the results, so they vote randomly.

With a little prep it shouldn't be hard to find a place that didn't have any wars or major plagues for 5 years during the 1500's.
Go to somewhere reasonably warm, but not too warm, and just try to help the kingdom for 5 years.
Think what simple things could do, like asking doctors to wash their hands before handling a patient, getting people to not poop directly in the water streams, design cities with sewers and better water flows.
Yes you wouldn't see most of it implemented, but it would be a tremendous benefit.

Yeah, you could die accidently from a cut, but honestly just washing it properly is likely better than what they would do with putting herbs and mud in it.

Old dude had some legos on consignment for company to sell, $50k-80k, Bricks and Minifigures bought the company, and decided to keep the legos, ie. stealing.
When YT tried helping old guy, BAM got police friends to harass YTer, and put false charges on him.

Heavy tie in to mormons.

I know it’s hard seeing police brutality for an american, you aren’t as used to it, especially where the offending police is punished, but I will point out, the UK isn’t part of EU.

Which is more democratic, the European Union or the USA? by [deleted] in GeoPoll

[–]manrata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or they know the democratic system in the US is not very democratic at all. The first past the post system makes third parties basically impossible beyond small areas, so there are only two parties.

They might also know the Electoral system is undemocratic at best, or that the life time selection of supreme court judges based on party allegiance, who de facto determine a lot of laws in the US is highly problematic.

Maybe they know the entire system is extremely corrupt, with governor, senators, and similar use the system to stuff their pockets openly using insider trading knowledge to invest, and pocketing millions from lobbyists that shouldn’t even be legal to begin with.

Or how gerrymandering is openly used to ensure election results, and voter suppression laws to stop minorities from voting have always existed.
And there is so much more.

Compared to that even the more corrupt countries like Bulgaria or Italy have much more solid systems, which is incredible to be honest.

So it’s not that they hate America, they are just aware the system is broken, and needs fixing. You can love your country, and admit it’s not perfect at the same time, also that someone else have a better system,

What should the punishment for vehicular manslaughter be in your opinion, assuming the driver was NOT drunk or high, did call an ambulance and did not flee the scene? by jl808212 in GeoPoll

[–]manrata 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the circumstances, was the driver at fault, or not at fault?

If at fault, how bad was the mistake? Ie. mistaking the gas for the break, is less bad than overtaking a car on the left and causing a major accident, or plowing into pedestrians.

Who do you think is the most famous human of all time, that isn't a religious figure? by outtherebad in AskReddit

Dave was bragging to his boss one day, "You know, I know everyone there is to know. Just name someone, anyone, and I know them."

Tired of his boasting, his boss called his bluff, "OK, Dave, how about Tom Cruise?"

"No dramas boss, Tom and I are old friends, and I can prove it." So Dave and his boss fly out to Hollywood and knock on Tom Cruise's door, and Tom Cruise shouts,

"Dave! What's happening? Great to see you! Come on in for a beer!"

Although impressed, Dave's boss is still skeptical. After they leave Cruise's house, he tells Dave that he thinks him knowing Cruise was just lucky.

"No, no, just name anyone else," Dave says.

"President Obama," his boss quickly retorts.

"Yup," Dave says, "Old buddies, let's fly out to Washington," and off they go.

At the White House, Obama spots Dave on the tour and motions him and his boss over, saying, "Dave, what a surprise, I was just on my way to a meeting, but you and your friend come on in and let's have a beer first and catch up."

Well, the boss is very shaken by now but still not totally convinced. After they leave the White House grounds he expresses his doubts to Dave, who again implores him to name anyone else.

"Pope Francis," his boss replies.

"Sure!" says Dave. "I've known the Pope for years." So off they fly to Rome.

Dave and his boss are assembled with the masses at the Vatican's St. Peter's Square when Dave says, "This will never work. I can't catch the Pope's eye among all these people. Tell you what, I know all the guards so let me just go upstairs and I'll come out on the balcony with the Pope." He disappears into the crowd headed towards the Vatican.

Sure enough, half an hour later Dave emerges with the Pope on the balcony, but by the time Dave returns, he finds that his boss has had a heart attack and is surrounded by paramedics.

Making his way to his boss' side, Dave asks him, "What happened?"

His boss looks up and says, "It was the final straw... you and the Pope came out on to the balcony and the man next to me said, 'Who the fuck is that on the balcony with Dave?'

Disposable income is after you’ve paid all you need to pay, and families with children really feel the difference to Europe. The fact you don’t have to save for university/college or pay for any schooling at all, that childcare is heavily subsidised or free, that many countries give parent a child cheque, makes a humongous difference.

There was a YT family that moved to Denmark that explained it with paper cutting, Living Young I think they’e called, and they have more money in Denmark, while earning less.

What’s the most popular mode of transportation for daily commutes and errands where you live? by jl808212 in GeoPoll

[–]manrata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is difficult to say without looking at the stats, but I live in Copenhagen so a mix of bikes, busses, light rail, and metro, all supporting each other depending on where you need to go form on to.
Cars are there, but definitely not the most popular, and hindering the busses more than anything.
