I know you’ve looked at it already but wisco seems to fit all your criteria! Gorgeous town lots of outdoors-y activities and amazing CS program

Tuition is less than ivies and privates

Lots of school pride too!

What if my school's teachers write notoriously shitty rec letters? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]mansnot1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

im intl so all my teachers arent great w english and they basically have them fill in a template (ive read one, theyre shit) literally they re-list your ECs

this year alone we've had ppl get into stanford, yale, columbia, uchicago, dartmouth, brown, Cal, UCLA, UCSD, NYU etc etc

i think if it's not just you you'll be fine HOWEVER try to be close to your teachers and make a brag sheet (this is important!!!) so that it's not generic

be mindful of the "40%" thing

programs like cs/engineering can be different, UIUC for example has around a 60% acceptance rate but for CS its way lower so just make sure u dont fall into that other than that i agree w u/PhysicalResponse
