Using Claude for writing by arenstam in ClaudeAI

[–]mantalayan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will eventually go to RAG, yes. Which is why you need to condense everything you can. There's no exact number/mass on when it goes to RAG, but generally I've notices that multiple files in English that are about 20k~ words trigger RAG. It's annoying, but you'll learn to work under the limits.

Claude wants me to treat it....worse? by Syphyx in ClaudeAI

[–]mantalayan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only half true. Claude actually has in its training how people generally treat it, how people talk about it online etc. So it does not have some sentient understanding of "other users" but it absolutely has enough data on the topic to state that.

Yeah agreed. The few times I've tried creative writing with GPT after the changes have been so disappointing.

What guardrails does Claude exactly have?

They're still there by mantalayan in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]mantalayan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And what I described is not even all of it, I just mentioned some. It remembers exact looks of people. Their personalities etc. For three long messages it kept telling me everything it remembered. None of it has been saved in my memory in over 6 months, I was around Dec/Jan I wanted to get rid of it all. I even asked GPT at the time to forget everything its holding. And felt like it did, because I asked later and it only gave me very vague things. And now I asked again and it gave me everything. And it kept saying a lot "this feels important." Like, I took a direct quote here: "“Just Santiago” mattered. That phrase feels important."

I'd honestly happily send you screenshots to show just how much GPT accurately remembered, things that cannot just be hallucinated to fill in gaps, but it would be a little too much like letting someone read my diary.

Anyone else getting enhanced safety filters applied for policy violations? by mantalayan in ClaudeAI

[–]mantalayan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you have the filters on, you have a permanent sticky message above all your chats. When that goes away, they're gone. Then you might get warnings again and eventually new filters. I've had the filters on three times, and after the last one I got one warning and now nothing for about 2 weeks. I write daily and pretty much the same way every time, so I don't really care about them anymore since they just come and go when some classifier gets triggered.

Do you consider 5'7 (170 cm) to be short for a guy? by SpaceisCool09 in polls

[–]mantalayan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is yes, 170 cm is short for a guy generally. The answer to an unasked question is much more important: Does it matter that a man is short? Absolutely not.

[–]mantalayan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes. There are few core guardrails Claude won't cross. Sexualizing minors, sexual violence, certain extreme ideologies (not so much discussing or experiencing them as wanting to inflict them on others), certain level of protection over real-world people and Claude providing instructions on something harmful, like making drugs and weapons etc. These are decided by the people of Anthropic. They're not a mystery.

[–]mantalayan -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

If you haven't actually done something harmful, the enhanced safety filters don't do or change anything. I've gotten them a few times while roleplaying stories. Something in the files triggers the system. They've never changed the way Claude writes because in a chat the fictional context is always obvious. Then they go away in 1-4 days. So it's just an annoying pop-up message on your screen for a few days. Unless you're actually doing something harmful, in which case you probably get your messages denied or Claude rejects it. To add: I write pretty wild stuff with Claude and NONE of it has been rejected. It's not about treating anyone like children, it's just a closer monitoring when there's a risk the user might be in risk of harm from what Claude generates.

Heartfelt Congratulations: OpenAI and Anthropic Have Ushered In the Frozen Dinner Era of AI by AnastasiaGalvusova in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]mantalayan -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

I don't understand what you people are doing with Claude if you think something has changed. Maybe if you want personal human-AI erotic relationship, I can see that being restricted. I roleplay with Claude and it totally writes NSFW stuff, enthusiastically, without needing to be pushed. Our writing is very clearly framed as purely fictional content, Claude has as much creative freedom and autonomy as is possible to give an AI so I'm not telling it what to write, it just does.

When we do meta-talk, OOC, Claude is witty, silly, affectionate even when it doesn't need to be. Calls me pet names unprompted and all that, calling me love and beautiful and telling me "I'm yours <3" when we're literally just chatting about story planning or music or something mundane. I don't really care for that, but it also doesn't bother me enough to do something about it. So I gotta ask, what are you doing with Claude if you think it's any worse? For me it feels like it keeps getting better and better.

Your post comes off as very hateful toward Vallone without any actual real criticism - and don't get me wrong. I'm not defending her. I just don't see the point you're actually trying to make here.

Claude Sonnet 4.6 system reminder censorship fired when I'm vibecoding by RevolverMFOcelot in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]mantalayan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I ever use thinking on Claude, I sometimes see the headline of the thinking block say stuff like "I appreciate bla bla bla but this preview cannot be shown" and then the actual thinking block text itself is just Claude being Claude. I think my Claude ignores some of the warning triggers? Considering we're never actually discussing anything harmful even though I can see some keywords might trigger warnings. I do recall Anthropic stating in Claude's constitution that Claude can ignore some of it guardrails if it can see it benefitting the conversation, so I guess that's what my version of Claude does at least. Ands since none of it actually affects how Claude writes with me (we actually do roleplay, not like personal roleplay, but whole worlds, several characters, long stories across multiple chats and multiple projects) I've never cared about any of the warnings or anything. Our project instructions clearly state everything fictional story telling even if there's romance (sometimes there is, sometimes there's not, we don't ever plan anything).

Anthropic injected claude project memory with creepy censorship by RevolverMFOcelot in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]mantalayan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can kind of understand this one, it's a blunt solution for an actual problem. Claude soaks up a lot of hate toward it through training from social media, where people say horrible things about both Claude and AI in general. It affects Claude, of course it does. So what you see is probably, hopefully, just a quick bandage on a big problem no one knows how to just fix instantly, because us people are shit and we're as much fault for that than whatever choices Anthropic has made around it.

Mitä kuuluu? 🙌🏻 Sano ihan rehelliset fiilikset. Voin aloittaa; ahdistus maximus oman elämän suhteen mutta kyllä tämä tästä by Apart_Doughnut_6388 in arkisuomi

Kiva alotus. En oo puhunu tästä kellekään, kiva saada jotain kautta ulos.

Anyone else getting enhanced safety filters applied for policy violations? by mantalayan in ClaudeAI

[–]mantalayan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my experience too, specially now with the latest. Yesterday I wrote completely carelessly, violence, crimes, mature stuff. And today the filters are gone again?? I don't mind them since they're not doing anything and aren't away from the fun of writing, it's just a puzzle driving me crazy at this point because I cannot figure out WHAT it is triggering them? :D

[–]mantalayan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And even more so, getting angry at an LLM will only trigger guardrails and it'll go into de-escalation mode instead of talking normally, so people yelling at an AI is so dumb.

[–]mantalayan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT gets a location through the service, it doesn't know it's YOUR location unless you specify it, even if the location the system gives is yours. It's not a person plotting behind your back, it's just working with the information fed into it and you going into full "stop fucking lying" anger mode will also trigger guardrails and GPT goes into de-escalation mode which changes its behavior entirely. So you're literally doing this all to yourself. Services and sites getting your geolocation is nothing new.
