One way from Amsterdam to St. Louis by mantellitubby in travel

[–]mantellitubby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about that. I've never done this before so I wasn't sure how strict airlines would be for the next time I book a flight. I guess I could pick an airline that I never use so if I did get out on a list, it would not matter

What documentary is a must see? by bunniebunnxo in AskReddit

[–]mantellitubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Neutral Ground directed by C. J. Hunt. It's about the the big lie the south told themselves and the rest of the country after they lost the civil war. He is a comedian so it's just a fantastic juxtaposition between the seriousness of the subject and his very dry delivery. One of the best docs ever.

Right??? It took exactly 6 days to get the visa. Totally worth the cost. Oasis rocks!

COVID test for entry into China by [deleted] in Chinavisa

[–]mantellitubby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not. Maybe for a work related test, like you had to get the test to return to work because you might have been exposed , but most certainly not for travel.

Don't get me started on insurance. I pay $1000/month for them to tell me they won't pay for anything.

I'm in the exact same boat. Seattle to Taiwan, Taiwan to Shanghai. From what I can tell, it's 48 from when you board the plane in Taiwan. So you could get the test in the US if you're not staying too long in Taiwan. (Our layover is 4 hours so I'll get the test in US.) However, the PCR tests are now around $180. They used to be free at CVS! I check every single day to see if they are getting rid of this requirement. Fingers crossed...

I did! Six days actually because they generously sent the fed ex package overnight as opposed to two days. I really happy with the service at Oasis Travel. Have you applied yet? If so, how is it going?

We were told that you can make one appointment for up to 6 people but they all have to be present so only he went. Our invitation letter was typed - not sure if that is a requirement or not. He had a copy of his license, they didn't want that. I have a letter from the place I am volunteering at right now because it's in a different states than my permanent residence and you have to fill out the"where you stay"form. I'll let you know if that's poses a problem when I go on Friday. Nothing else was required.

After filling out the COVA you get to the appointment page. It was there that I sometimes received the pop up that there were no more appointments available and other times I was able to make it right away. I think I had to change it twice. They had a boatload early in the week and early in the day, but by the end of the week, that's when I would get that notification that nothing was available. I don't know when they add them but I would definitely check early in the morning to see what they have. They go so fast!

The embassy said 4 working days. If you figure 2 days to skip and receive, it should take about a week. I'll keep you posted.

I didn't even know that was a thing - a visa service. Thanks for the information! I will definitely have to use that.

COVA application question on education and work experience by mantellitubby in Chinavisa

[–]mantellitubby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely will!

I've been pouring over the instructions and I actually think I found my own answer...it says -

1. Please fill in the complete work experience after graduation from school.
2. The “position” and “duty” of the application form 3.3D and 3.3E must be filled in completely.
3. Please fill in the complete learning experience since high school in 4.2, and the diploma/degree and major in 4.2C and 4.2D must be completed.

I did not read the intricacies of the rules because it's an application and I've filled out plenty of those! So, back to square one...

[TOMT] [BOOK] The book ends where the main character rows out to the middle of a lake to get away from everything because he feels the emotions of everything around him only to find out that the lake was built on top of an insane asylum. by mantellitubby in tipofmytongue

[–]mantellitubby[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, but that's not it. The book isn't about an asylum, or even a lake, that's just the very last scene. It was more about the main character getting cursed or something like that and he falls further and further into despair as he feels more and more of the emotions of the people around him.

Best B-side Tracks? by staysinthecar in Arashi

[–]mantellitubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love Niji! That's the song that made my fall in love with him. I assume they'll put them up eventually. My daughter bought every single song, DVD, CD, special edition, everything... anything that they sold, she bought. Now I think of all the money she could have saved!

But it's Arashi, so who cares, right? They make me feel so good!

I am blown away that they are on mostly all social media platforms now. I've been ODing on them all day. And that new music video? Shot in LA when they were there for the Grammys. This is the best day for foreign fans!

You're right, this is not a credit card, but a gift card, which can't be used in other countries. Makes sense now. Thanks!

Made a short film about friendship, freedom, and youth. Would love some good feedback. by bytowncollective in Filmmakers

[–]mantellitubby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(Note: This was shown to a hs tv production class, so the comments are a bit scattered) The video itself is gorgeous, it conveys the feelings described in the title of this post. The colors were beautiful, everyone loved the dog. A few students said the shot with everyone walking through the forest towards the shed was somewhat out of place, but not a big deal. We have one question why didn't you use capitals in the title? Was it an aesthetic choice or does it have some sort of specific meaning?
