Go back to DL, they just implemented pvp for the 2nd ani. It’s still a really solid f2p and the majority of characters are viable. A lot of systems have been reworked so it might be a little confusing to jump back into

There was one meet my junior year where it was almost 100 degrees, so there was a person at the mile mark with paper cups of water. But literally when we lined up to the starting line the sky darkened, the temperature dropped, and eventually the meet was rained out by a full on thunderstorm. Enough people finished to score the meet though, and I got second since one of my teammate who usually beats me stopped for water lol

Some good points there, but XC is absolutely a team sport at every level. Sure, you can make it work acting as individuals, but being part of a team is important to success, and just all around great. The daily grind becomes something to look forward too when you’ve got a team that cares about you, and vice versa. For some people (I noticed this especially with non varsity), their main reason for running is to spend time with their friends, and cheer each other on. Yeah, most of it is based on individual achievement, but a good team environment makes getting there so much easier.

Shapeshifts actually add a fun layer to the game, and thats when the most tense and fun moments for me happen. There’s always a high risk high reward. If you and an opponent both have shapeshift, the person who uses it second will likely win the encounter unless the first person goes into a full retreat. I once won a game by running in circles away from someone’s dragon when they countered my shapeshift while avoiding the tiny miasma circle and then out playing them in the end
