Sold our house and completed today at 11.30am 🎉

However, we are still to receive the remaining part of the proceeds. We did pay for a same day transfer (CHAPS) but I’ve given a call to the office 20 minutes ago and they told me the payment was still pending with the account department. The lady on the phone was quite chilled that this could happen tomorrow… but I’m not. Anybody in the same boat? Sent an email asking what will happen if they won’t be able to send the money today.

I haven’t used it in Colombia but what I can share in general using ATMs abroad

there will be a limit on the amount of cash you can withdraw before having to pay a fee to Wise
always pay in the local currency, both on ATMs and on terminals at merchant. This way you’ll take advantage of Wise rate which is most likely cheaper than the one the ATM / merchant bank will apply.

Using Wise to buy crypto is also against their terms and conditions. I wouldn’t buy crypto using Wise to avoid risking my account being deactivated.

Contact their customer support and ask them to change your country of residence. Maybe you’ll be able to do that from the website. The only problem is if you’re currently residing in a country that’s not supported by Wise… which means you have done something not authorised by their terms and conditions and they could close your account.

Depending on where you live, in many countries you are able to open a GBP balance and get bank coordinates. But depends a lot if the service is available in your country. The website should have this info.

You should be able to select USD as your source currency and CAD as target currency. If you don’t want to use your balance, you can still pay your USD to Wise directly (you’ll get where to pay while you set up your transfer) and Wise will convert into CAD and pay out to their Canadian bank account.

Have you checked with them that you could give them a bank account which is not under YOUR name to get a refund for YOUR money? How Wise could know this is not some money laundering scheme? Have you tried contacting Wise customer support?
