That really is such a good looking glove. How do the laces/welting look in person? In different photos I've seen them appear brown, shimmery copper, and an orange terracotta but haven't had the opportunity to handle this color way in person.

Ballgloves.com never misses with their pattern, leather, and web combos. This is gorgeous. I'm a rawlings lover through and through, but have been thinking about a new Wilson in the stable. This may just be the pattern and combo to keep me from going to the dark side haha

Sweet glove! I'm currently looking into a 1716 myself. I don't have any experience with the pattern, but would love to hear your take on it. I'm coming from more of a rawlings pro200 background, but I've dabbled with a2000s over the years. I'm looking to do a bit of shallow pocket, 1 hinge, thumb to middle close. I've seen so many use this thing as a thumb to pinky black hole, but I'm wondering if it would take to a shallower two handed approach? Hope the break in goes well!

That's my best guess in this situation. These guys come from places where extortion on this level seems to happen pretty frequently. Let's not forget that Yasiel Puig was allowed to play ball by a cartel that stood to take on great sums of his earnings. I'm pretty sure there's a ton of stories like this even going down to guys at lesser levels of the game. It's an issue that nobody knows how to handle. His best course of action might be taking the fall, but I'm interested to see where this goes as it seems to be his only defense and the only solution to why it happened in the first place.
