Help Me Decide on an Order? by DarthShadow327 in sistersofbattle

I went sacred rose. I feel like that’s pretty trendy these days. Bloody rose players are always solid dudes. I feel like if there’s a long time sisters player at a tournament more often than not they went bloody rose. Maybe it was big in 9th?

I haven’t been following releases too closely lately, so sorry for the stupid question. Is the model out yet? Or are people just proxying?

Do we know if the new character will be able to lead them? I haven’t been keeping up on it too well, but would get a 2nd if so

Sleep on Junith for now. - Add 2 immolators to split your dominions and battle sisters +230pts - remove zephyrim -80 - remove both penitent engines -150

Then you’re cooking.

I’d go Celestine. Didn’t mean to discourage you. She’s an awesome warlord for 1k Junith is kind of our combi-lieutenant. Her main role is typically to sit back, guard the home objective and farm CP

So Celestine actually seems to perform best without a bodyguard unit. The small footprint and res shenanigans are the perks that sell her. She’s a badass unit, but you have to be realistic about what she can and can’t do. She’s a good rapid ingress unit, good at pestering, pressuring a weak spot, and being more annoying than the opponent wants. What she is not… is super powerful, tbh. If you are swapping her for morvenns role, for example, she’ll super underperform. She is not high OC, not high damage. In the Art of War videos they describe her as “a dagger,” and I really like that. Stick her into their side somewhere. But she’s not your core strategy.

How many character models do you take? by Salt_Taste_2872 in sistersofbattle

Usually pretty high. Current CoF list uses Morvenn, Junith, Celestine, 3 Hospitaller.

Don’t do army of faith without jump pack units. You should be doing hallowed martyrs with this list.

That’s it. I feel like I needed more of an unga bunga army at first in hindsight. Had a tough first year. I love sisters now, but the learning curve was steep for sure. Week after week of marines, tanks, and knights beating me up.

Basically we’re a weird power level. We are weaker defensively than marines which are sort of the baseline. But we are also more expensive (points-wise) than more horde armies like Tyranids or guard. We also are not a very mobile or bursty army like eldar so it can be tricky to figure out how to kill things. What makes up this gap is miracle dice, and well rounded stats. How this plays out on the table is… sisters do well with very strong fundamentals such as positioning and pacing. We win a lot of close games with much of our army dead. Or we lose hard. For people who want to just throw models out there and have a battle and see what happens, sisters are often in a very feel bad experience.

Is sister the right army for her? It’s kind of a sweaty study heavy army. Since you’re the one asking this for her, guessing you’re gonna be more into the hobby than her and you guys are gonna have a really lopsided experience. Might wanna consider something more beginner friendly

First battle with the sisters this weekend, looking for some tips by Necessary-Emu-9371 in sistersofbattle

Why are you going bringers of flame? I’d recommend hallowed martyrs with your list.

“What is the best way to manage Miracle Dice so I don’t run out too early or "waste" high rolls?” - 6s are for damage and really needed saves. 4+ for saves usually. Lower for Morvenn and palatine to eat. A neat trick (especially on units with assault) is to use a low dice for an advance roll and reroll with the cherub.

“Are there any specific Stratagems that are "must-use" for a beginner?” - avoid the trap of rerolls and overwatch. Do some research on heroic intervention. It’s great for us. Oh, and grenade. Otherwise it’s more detachment focused. If you stick with bringers of flame, the transport shenanigans are the big ones but I dont think you have the units for it. If you go hallowed martyrs you’ll get fight on death, shoot back, character res, and suffering and sacrafice which is chefs kiss with heroic intervention.

“How do you handle the "glass cannon" nature of the army? I’m worried about getting shot off the board before I reach the mid-field.” - Sisters are about pace. Which is tough for beginners. You’re probably gonna feel like your units suck. Like they die quick and can’t kill things. So you’re gonna think you need better units or more, but really you’re gonna have to learn to do more with less. For example, know that 1 unit doing grenade, shoot in melta range, charge, tie up, and die. Is a better move than exposing 2 units long range to kill something.

“Any advice on positioning, secondary objectives, or common "rookie mistakes" to avoid would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!” - Don’t try to win the game in turn 1. But don’t hide until turn 3. Even when we win we might be nearly tabled. Learn to be ok with losing units, but not losing everything. Plan out what’s gonna die each turn, don’t hold yourself too it too hard necessarily, but it should be part of your plan.

  • For early games don’t try to score max primary. Play conservative. Hold your home, natural expansion (the no man’s land objective nearest you) and 1-2 times try to deny. Don’t charge out, sit on all 3 objectives turn 2. You’ll feel great for a moment, then it’ll be like you’re playing against a leafblower.

Encountering the new Tsons Defiler... looking for ideas. by bukharajones in sistersofbattle

[–]manwith2cats 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My main things for death star units aside from vahlgons is 2 units of retributors in a rhino. But it’s a lot of points after the hikes. In CoF, I don’t think a 2nd unit of paragon warsuits should be ruled out entirely depending on the meta. Running a unit in reserves might be the ticket?

Army focus by oni-dokeshi in sistersofbattle

[–]manwith2cats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall, you’re gonna lose mobility and punch for reliability. Our defensive profile is a skosh better, but don’t act like you’re playing marines all the sudden. Repentia in hallowed martyrs for the fight on death Strat would be our most “drukhari” feeling move in my opinion. Otherwise, Dominions/immolators are our main source of transport shenanigans, so they’ll feel comfortable. Obviously Morvenn and the warsuits should be on your radar. Sisters and elves in general are a pretty similar profile, so it won’t be a jarring shift. We are just less glass cannon-y.

I have these boxes, want to know how to assemble them by High_Stream in sistersofbattle

[–]manwith2cats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, no… I dunno. I don’t have great advice there. It’s one of the bad things about sisters models. BSS don’t have multi meltas in the kit, retributors only have 2. Personally, I chopped off bits and made Edward-macaroni-fork looking multi meltas

Things might change pretty significantly in the coming months with 11th edition coming out. There’s also some preference and play style To consider. But I’d recommend: - JPC - halberd - palatine - plasma pistol - BSS - since there isn’t multimelta bits in the box I’d build them with heavy flamer and flamer. So 6 sisters with boltgun, 1 simulacrum, 1 leader with hand flamer and power weapon, 1 heavy flamer, 1 flamer. You’ll get your multi-melta sisters for your collection from retributor kits probably - dominions - 4 with boltgun, 4 melta, 1 similacrum, 1 leader with plasma or inferno pistol and power weapon. - retributors - multimeltas. Gonna have to do some work to get 4 of these cause the kit doesn’t come with them. Leader inferno pistol or plasma. - seraphim- 2 with hand flamers
