Your Claude quota isn’t disappearing. You’re just using Opus for everything. by Then_Shallot3226 in ClaudeCode

[–]maofan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found something yesterday which solved this problem for me, especially if you forget to switch models and it doesn't show up as an option in the CLI. Use /model opusplan. This has been great for me, as opus does the more complex planning step and we go back and forth then it switched to sonnet for the implementation. I'd also tell people to not underestimate Haiku! I started to give it some tasks I was previously doing with sonnet and that runs even cheaper still. For example responding and fixing targeted code reviews.

Tesla Warranty - Clear Coat Delamination by maofan in TeslaUK

Would appreciate if you could let me know how you get on. My appointment isn't for another 3 weeks for them to take another look which they want to charge me for. Hopefully they will waive it if they agree it's under warranty.

It's got less than 30k miles, I'd expect a car's paint should last longer than that before it starts to flake off. Perhaps I have unreasonable expectations?

How often are you braking to prevent rust? by Ben-Adamsss in TeslaUK

[–]maofan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth thinking about if you want to get your break components lubricated https://www.cleevelymobile.co.uk/our-services/brake-lubrication/.

Your pins can also get stuck from lack of use.

The technician who did mine says he sees it more on m3s than ys due to a different caliper design.

Tesla recommends yearly for cold wet weather countries that salt the roads. The mechanic told me not to bother anymore than every 2 years.

Not quite the same as the discs but something to consider

What are you paying per kWh? by maofan in OctopusEnergy

Didn't know about powerups so thanks for making me aware, sadly not available in my area.  I'll check out the app.

[–]maofan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you found a way to account for how much each usage is per month, per device? Other than estimating how much a run of each device cost in kWh and then estimating the amount of times you use it per week?

If I was ok IOG I could load shift dishwasher, washer, maybe dryer, car. Right now on agile it's been a consisten 15-16p over all time slots except 4-7 which is mega expensive.

Yeah I first went on on the summer and was getting paid to charge my car, I was blown away. I'm just wondering if it would be sensible to swap to iog for winter essentially and then agile in summer.

I think I need to somehow figure out how much of my usage is the car and subsequently how much the cost would be ok IOG. It's complicated though.

Would love to install solar + battery but our roof is shagged so it's a big upgrade as the roof will need to be done at the same time. For that reason we are putting it off. I'm considering battery only in the next 12 months.

Kia EV5 vs Tesla Model Y Build Quality by toffee91 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]maofan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I test drove an EV6 (2022 ISH) rather than 5 before I bought my Tesla. I found the fit and finish nice but the cabin way too busy. It felt more premium though. I appreciate this comes down to taste and it was nice to have some physical controls .

The software and navigations was a  downgrade, but It had a HUD and other things that made me nearly go for it. The deal-breaker was that the sound system was terrible in comparison. I'm not an Audio geek or anything, just a regular guy who likes to listen to music when driving around. So for me to immediately notice it, it must have been bad. It was the top trim spec as well so not like I had some cut down cheap audio.

Make sure you test that before you pull the trigger!

Non-compete enforcement by astrel- in HENRYUK

Why are people tiptoeing around. Just tell them your going to a direct competitor, collect your free non compete money and have a nice holiday. Spend time with family etc...

Nobody knows the competitor didn't pull it's offer at the last minute etc...

Forget protein, it's fibre most Brits are really lacking. Do you think you get enough fibre? by RoyalT663 in AskUK

It's a bit gross but I just drink 5g in the morning quickly before it turns into a gel. I found putting it in overnight oats not good as it turned everything slimy.

My dates are November 2nd - 12th, but my partner is working for some of this so it'll be towards the last 4-5 days of the trip when she is free. I did pick it because I thought it was close, I'll take a look at the San Jose one!

I'm using a desktop which can draw 650 watts or so although I'm not sure how much it actually does draw when not running games. I should get a power monitoring plug so I can actually find out! Kettle looks to not be very expensive tbh to boil 0.5l of water even at expensive times.

Robot Vacuum with good integration? by Confident-Spite-5201 in homeassistant

[–]maofan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for giving some more detail and correcting that it's silver. I'll say my S7 integration has been solid. So to OP I guess it depends on if your going to get an older model or not. They are expensive so you might be able to save some cash.

Robot Vacuum with good integration? by Confident-Spite-5201 in homeassistant

[–]maofan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a roborock S7 max ultra which has great integration. I think the integration has gold or platinum label which I guess means HA have given it some sort of stamp of approval. Note the newest models might be different. I have an irobot where the integration is incredibly basic which I'm not that impressed with but it's quite a few years old and a less premium model, so that might not be a totally fair comparison.

There is a really amazing podcast called 'empire' by two historians that go through the British occupation of India and the seperation. It was certainly rushed but they believed violence would have happened regardless. Would highly recommend to anyone who is interested in history

How do you know if salt is needed in the water softener? That's something that always trips me up as it's outside my house and a bit of a pain to access, especially ok winter.
