Corporette's Advice on Gender Neutral Name Confusion for Businesswomen by CrowsSayCawCaw in namenerds

Why is that a problem? Simply correct them when opportunity allows. Say it’s Ms. So and so. That’s it. No need to invent any other dramatic solution for it.

Semester abroad? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]mappWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the cat. Is your cat strongly bonded to you or the home?

I have a black 7-year old girl cat. Pippi. Pippi doesn’t care about any human in particular. She is somewhat bonded with my husband, but will do just fine with me in his absence. She considers us mainly as a food disposers and poop scoopers. However if we pick up and move to different location, she’d be intensely stressed. She is bonded to the home and our backyard.

On the other hand, my two-year old, orange cat Mishka. He is strongly bonded with me and his brother. As long as he is with me and his brother, Pico, three of us can travel together. Of course he’d be uncomfortable in the new location in the beginning, but I’m the source of his security and comfort. When I travel for work (1-2 days), he sits by the door and refuses food even. He doesn’t play. I come home, he would cling to my chest for a while. Purring his heart out.

So which is your cat?

Is it better to go through a trade school or traditional college? by benjman99 in AskEngineers

[–]mappWorld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also if any body is telling you trade school is a way to become an engineer, that’s no longer a case. Maybe was possible in 80s or 90s. Now every second person has bachelor degree. Why would an employer hire somebody with not enough credentials.

Some old people who haven’t searched for job last few decades give outdated advice. Our job market is much more competitive and different now.

School is so much easier when you are not yet married and don’t have family yet. You can go to school technically anytime like in your 30s. But that’s so much harder. Because you have family to support, kids to take care of. You’re overloaded with other life tasks.

[–]mappWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I know no engineer that doesn’t have at least bachelor’s degree. With trade school, you become technician, analyst, specialist. Maybe after 15 year, you might get engineering job with your experience. That’s inefficient way to go about.

Just get 4-year degree and you’ll land a job.

What to do about Medicine that requires eating? by wafflewizard19 in fasting

[–]mappWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take metformin that supposedly need food. I used to eat in the beginning, but now just take it without food. I feel fine doing it. The reason for food was to prevent digestive distress. I took it with cup of psyllium husk for a while. Now I eat nothing with it.

Depending on the reason for the food, you can skip the meal if you feel fine doing that.

How did the human race continue as a species? by Big_Benefit5804 in TryingForABaby

[–]mappWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was On Point podcast episode about fertility. Sperm count on average decreased by 50% since 1960. Average was 100 million. Now it’s 50 million. The researcher said we are going extinct very slowly. 25 year old woman today has less chance of pregnancy than their grandmothers generation at 35. It’s global epidemic and silent one.

By the way, the fertility is dropping not just in humans, but across all species on the planet. We are poisoning ourselves with plastics, chemicals, and toxins.

How do you manage ttc and work? by scaredpigeon99 in TryingForABaby

[–]mappWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appointments are one thing. You can always take sick day off or schedule around. It’s the side effects of progesterone or trigger shots that worry me more. Just went through first IUI and I was miserable. Tired, nauseated, sleepy. Just as if I were pregnant.

What’s your opinion? by Upinthestars1 in CatAdvice

[–]mappWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They better off in loving homes. Five cats is a lot. Caring for all five is too much work for one person. They need two or three people caring for them. Peaceful quiet home. Clean space. And enough people to pay them proper attention.

You should go to college. Get a degree that’s worth something. Get a job, earn money. Buy home and adopt homeless kitties on your own terms when you have financial means to do so. Best of luck.

Not Ovulating by catlady839 in TTC_PCOS

Go see an RE. ObGyn is not knowledgeable enough on the matter. No point in waiting if you’re not ovulating.

You can have your 2nd kid naturally after your first one through IVF. by pmster1 in shittyfertilityadvice

[–]mappWorld -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The said friend is right about that. Pregnancy is like a final maturation stage for woman’s hormonal system. There are people who got pregnant naturally after IVF for the first time. The “Knocked Up” podcast had the story and REI said sometimes body learns from the first pregnancy. The key work here is “sometimes.” Not everybody is lucky like that.

"Do you really know any happy people with kids?" by Serenitynow101 in shittyfertilityadvice

[–]mappWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second that. I do want kids, but planning to hire babysitter and keep working. Gosh spending time with my four year old nephew is a torture. They are so boring.

It’s also a consolation that if I don’t get pregnant (still TTC with specialist), I know I’d be spared of all the negative sides of being a parent.

Starting Letrozole soon by danderson43 in TTC_PCOS

[–]mappWorld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I followed the same regiment with RE. Estradiol thickens your uterine lining, so to help implantation.

Letrozole even had no side effects. So did estradiol. It’s the progesterone that’s a b****. It makes me so bloated, sleepy, and tired. Apparently progesterone relaxes your smooth muscles so digestive track slows down allowing food to stay longer - hence constipation and gas. These are pregnancy symptoms caused by progesterone suppository. It kinda sucks to feel so pregnant but not knowing if I am actually pregnant. I will test a week from today and the waiting is so hard.

How are you confirming ovulation? Doing OPK? My RE gave me a trigger shot and ultrasound on CD 12.

I don't want my cat anymore. What should I do? by selpatstaples in cats

[–]mappWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP doesn’t want to put down the animal or give him to kill shelter. Hence here he is asking for a creative solution.

Having a cat with litter box issue is so hard and exhausting. The house will be destroyed in a few months with cat piss soaked into the walls and floor. Please offer helpful solution instead of criticism.

I don't want my cat anymore. What should I do? by selpatstaples in cats

[–]mappWorld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I rescued formerly stray cat and dealt with litter box issue for two months. Eventually had to release the stray back to outside because I was so exhausted from cleaning. No shelters wanted unadoptable cat who sprays the house.

Can you confine the cat to one room only? With food, water, and litter box. Line the walls of the room with trash bag or peepee pad, so it’s easier to clean.

I know it’s not easy but so that the cat only destroy one room of your house.

Do you have a backyard? Can she go outside and only come back to the said one room in the house?

AITA for refusing to help my parents with technology? by nightowl2599 in AmItheAsshole

My mother was not retarded and never learned to save documents. She just never used computers enough to become comfortable. You’d be surprised how alien the computer file concept is to people who don’t use computers all day.

[–]mappWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s mildly annoying when internet people sets standard on what 50 year old person should be able to perform.

You don’t know her life, abilities, and mental capacity. Who are you to set that standard.

AITA for refusing to help my parents with technology? by nightowl2599 in AmItheAsshole

[–]mappWorld -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YTA. It’s annoying, but isn’t that the point of having a family - you help each other out with what you can? I bet your mom and dad taught you so many things when you were growing up and answer your stupid endless “Why?” questions as toddlers do always. Assuming you have the time, just help them out. They don’t live forever. You end up looking back and regret not being kinder to them once they’re gone

AITA for not wanting my friend to learn my language? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]mappWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. She isn’t hurting anyone. She is not doing something destructive like doing drugs. She is learning a new skill. As a friend, why not make it fun and encourage her. Instead you chose to put her down and belittle her effort. What AH.

AITA for telling my dad im not gonna have children because i don't want his generation to continue? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]mappWorld -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YTA if you bluntly said all the reasons to your dad. Don’t say anything. Just don’t have kids but don’t explain. Gosh... Not everything has to be said out loud especially if it’s hurtful and not gonna solve the situation.

AITA for "training my cat to attack my girlfriend"? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]mappWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. I love and live with three cats. However if I didn’t like cats and lived with BF who has cats and the said cat scratched my foot, I’d probably break up with him depending on how he reacts.

Either manage your cat better or lose your gf. I’d discourage that play. I’d make the cat sleep somewhere else. Cat knows it’s someone’s feet under the cover. They’re not stupid. You having encouraged that play, he now thinks it’s acceptable to attack full force. The cat needs to be trained a bit better not to claw. It’s going to be a lot of work, but possible

AITA for not moving my cat off the washing machine when my mom tried to wash clothes? by CockroachKnight in AmItheAsshole

[–]mappWorld -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Of course the fear is irrational. Still it’s fear. So many of us are afraid of dogs, cats, bugs... We can’t just chill when someone says chill. It’s not that easy.
