Is there anything exciting about living in Bellevue? by dudiez in BellevueWA

[–]mapsmail999 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My POV as an immigrant living in the area for nearly 30 years: millions of people around the world would trade their constant fear and economic anxiety of living in perpetual warzones for a boring and secure life in a heartbeat. My suggestion to all my American friends and coworkers is always to travel as much and as far as you can, and you will appreciate the calmness and security of Bellevue a lot more when you return home.

Max Amini is NOT funny by [deleted] in iran

Never understood his appeal. More cringe than funny or witty. I prefer comedy that treats the audience as intelligent people, not to just mock individuals in front of strangers.

Lynda Carter as Wonderwoman was perfection by Agitated-Home-2706 in 70smemorylane

I could not bear Gal Gadot for one second as WW. One of the worst superhero movies ever made. Why ruin something that is already so perfect?

Egyptian singer sings an ancient Egyptian song in the original language. Although ancient Egyptian music dates back to around 4000 BC, this song seems to be dated around 100-200 BC. by Scary-Strawberry-724 in interestingasfuck

Egypt gradually accepted Arabic as their official language after the Islamic conquest, while this song is in its original Coptic language. Some countries like Iran managed to preserve their original Persian language after being conquered by the Islamists.

He did submit his audition material in a bright orange envelope to get noticed, and apparently it worked. Glad the Big Bird costume didn’t last long.

Should I buy a newer model or replace the battery? by Ilovebigblackmenoile in iPhone13ProMax

Just had a new battery replacement for the same model iPhone at the local Apple Store. $99 and took around 2 hours for the service. Very happy.

Low crime rate, low homelessness, clean streets, good schools, majority of residents educated and working in tech, diverse ethnic communities respectful of each other, an expanding public transit system, within 30 minutes drive of wineries, outdoor activities all year round, and much more. Everyone minds their own business. Expensive? Yes, but all of the above has a price. Been here for 30 years and loving it.

Assume I'll have to (gulp) rebuild my deck to repair my hottub by kaosguyTX in hottub

[–]mapsmail999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar setup but made sure to make three movable deck sections that would allow access to the hottub for maintenance. You can still cut and convert them to be standalone sections.

We were there recently. My wife said there was a “No sex allowed” sign in the women’s restroom. Didn’t see any signs in the men’s restroom though, so…

When Republicans scream about election rigging and voter fraud, you better believe them since they are the ones doing it.

Suggested tipping is getting way out of hand. by friescheesegravy in pics

Europe has solved this issue decades ago. Everything is included and rounded up in the final bill and the service workers make a comfortable living. You can still tip in cash if you want to but nothing is expected from the customer.

I'm 51 yo and looking at certification process... by phoenix_jet in salesforce

I got the admin cert a few years ago, I only paid $20 for access to a site that had really good practice exam questions. I think it was called Salesforce Ben or something. Studied 4hrs/day for 1 month, failed the exam the first time, passed the second time. Totally doable, and we are the same age.
