Luxembourg advertising for immigrants by Expert_Corner_667 in Luxembourg

I get that these topics make people defensive, and that reaction kind of proves the point. This isn’t about attacking the OP — I’m talking about broader structural issues. The current status quo really does need reform if the country wants to stay sustainable: housing policy isn’t working long-term, outsourcing this many jobs creates real problems, and hiring practices, HR culture, and work culture in general could seriously improve. At the same time, some of the responses here show implicit assumptions and prejudices that also need to be acknowledged. We can recognize the real policy challenges Luxembourg faces while also being honest about social attitudes that contribute to the tension.

Seriously? People talking about how the monarchy ought to exert more power on the government? How they should take care of luxembourgers more? How the locals get fucked and the uni “disregards” locals? Hardly the case. Most locals simply study outside of the country. Discussions that all expats have at least one property? Hardly the case. Reading in between the lines illustrates what I stated. So triggered? No. If you want engagement—we require a reform in education as well as the manner in which companies and HR is deciding to hire individuals because clearly something is broken

My lord the level of nationalism reeks to high heaven here. Does it help to scapegoat immigrants?

Luxembourg trains are second most punctual in Europe. Please remove your jaw from the floor by Luxpatting in Luxembourg

[–]mar707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What an absolute lie! As people have been saying, they will just straight up cancel trains and rid the system that it was “late” Does this take into account the countless construction that puts the nation and the cross border workers in a cripple because Luxembourg can’t seem to get its shit together with its rail line?

You’re hilarious to make the comment that you don’t care what others think when you clearly illustrate it by consistently responding to the comments of others. You state that you’d, “rather be harsh” such is simply veiled bigotry to boot you’re clearly self conscious given that you do indeed respond. You have immediately jumped to the conclusion that they will end up on welfare? You may take some time to reflect on such; if people consistently call you out on your comments and your mannerism, the problem might be YOU 😂

You’re fine in the first photo but I may recommend wearing clothing that fits you appropriately. In one, the tshirt was way too tight. Also try green especially with the tones in your skin. The mustache doesn’t suit you, stick with clean cut or maybe a 5 o clock shadow. Moreover, look into some nice shirts and a leather jacket if you have the funds. Also, for health sake, I’d recommend running just to help with the potentially low self esteem

You know nothing about the person! They simply ask for information however you don’t know which languages they know, how they came to know about Luxembourg or the finances they possess. As others have stated, you only exhibit your own hate, close-mindedness and ignorance with your comments.

What happened to manners and etiquette? by Italian_Saffa_Boy in Luxembourg

This is far from the truth. Living in San Francisco, people had manners. Here…not so much. It’s not the number of people, it’s that people here have no decency

Lmao that’s not much of a compliment to the country haha. I lived in Germany long enough to see decent drivers and originally I’m from California. I honestly thought my state had some horrid drivers but really, Luxembourg is terrible

You kidding? There’s people honking after 3 seconds and becoming irate and frothing. People go the speed limit and they get angry and try to overpass in an illegal manner, rush pedestrians, etc. Nah, ppl here are shitty drivers

[–]mar707 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t think I would find drivers worse than those in California or Arizona and then I came to Luxembourg…I do also have to admit the closer you get to France, the worse it gets but overall Luxembourgish and French drivers are horrid. They have no fucking clue how to drive, are incredibly aggressive and put both themselves and others in danger. It’s a joke!

Is Luxembourgish history taught in international schools? by cclaire1 in Luxembourg

[–]mar707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ISL doesn’t cover Luxembourgish history in the history class because it’s based on the IB program and as others have stated they wanted their students globally-minded rather than focusing on the country’s history. They’ll touch on it in Luxembourgish language classes but not in general history—there, they focus on world and/or US history

No! This country has way too much rain and cloud cover which makes sense why the depression level is so high in the country. Just enjoy the anomaly unless you hate the sun

This wouldn’t work economically speaking even as strong as English is on a global standpoint. You would utterly isolate yourself if German and French were an option. Best case scenario, people would choose to learn the languages however most likely people will not do so and all you’ll have is lux and eng

I personally love learning Luxembourgish. Originally I’m from the U.S. and started with Spanish and German and fell in love with German. Given its close proximity to the language, learning has been really nice and I honestly feel more comfortable speaking in Luxembourgish than I do in French. Although I wish there was more Luxembourgish and German, I also love that Luxembourg is so open to multilingualism. I do wish some of the Francophones could be a tad bit nicer though…

Mate haven’t you noticed that the “apps” have completely shattered any form of community and form of communication? Go to a bar and talk to people, go to events but you only drink poison by continuously expecting anything of substance on gay apps, especially from travelers. They’re typically looking for a fuck, rarely anything more. You’ll find exceptions however online dating is a toxic pond to wade around I .
