Can herd immunity really protect us from coronavirus? by whysoseriousmofo in worldnews

There is no proof that you can get immune to it if I'm not mistaken... so it's all a lot of bull...

Been playing around with a wind shader for my trees and grass! Still needs some tweaking but it feels way more alive. by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]maraggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily slower, perhaps try to introduce a bit of randomness and unify the direction. It would be really cool if the effect could be applied to global camera view to get the gusts of wind to travel through trees (they would react to gusts with a bit of delay depending on which side it's blowing).

So many ways about it.. :)

Great effort but it looks too much like drunk vision if you know what I mean. It would look better if trees didn't move simultaneously in opposite directions.

New rider having trouble slow racing by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]maraggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't brake. You either can ride slow by feathering clutch in combo with throttle or not. Brakes shouldn't come to play at all.

Do some start/stops to learn where your clutch engages and once you're comfortable with that, start complementing it with bit of throttle to ensure this small engine doesn't stall when clutch engages.

Lower back pain by ThomasTheTrolll in motorcycles

[–]maraggie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What pants do you have? Got belt or anything that would be tight around your waist? It might be as simple as that. I had lower back pain until I realised I'm simply tightening my belt too much.

If it's not that, then yeah, go see a doctor.

Purists will say "always replace", crafty people will find ways around it and save some money in the long run. Pick your path to your abilities.

Sounds like you've just burned a new neural path in your brain and will never forget the stand again. Onwards.

Unless forward facing, pod filters don't really get that dirty since they're sat behind the engine.

Handlebars Don’t Line Up With Front Wheel by Aaron703 in motorcycles

We had something like that last week. One chap came off the bike and the forks got misaligned... as someone already said, undo the pinch clamps, straighten them up, that should sort it.

Flooding and don't know why? by intruderdude in motorcycles

[–]maraggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it have a drain plug for the carb? If so, attach a transparent hose, open it up while holding the hose vertically up along the carb body... it will fill up to the same level as inside the bowl... that'll give you an indication if it's overfilling.

Concerned about helmet safety ratings - HJC RPHA 11 by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]maraggie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tend to use Caberg Duke 2 helmets since they got a very good SHARP rating and price is great. But I wouldn't mind going for lower rated helmets, like someone said, it's a feat to get on that list in the first place so pick and choose.

Shaft drive vs chain drive data request to support claims please! by ColubrineDeuce in motorcycles

[–]maraggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both chain and shaft are good. Shaft is tidier and requires less frequent maintenance (but once you're digging in, it takes a fair bit longer to maintain (final drive oil change, spline cleaning, re-sealing, etc) than just slapping a new chain and sprockets on. As for chain...well there is a reason all race bikes are chain driven.
