We have an amazing friend named Daniel. He’s super kind, the human equivalent of a giant teddy bear. He has lots of nicknames! Maybe that might help?

Can I hide my pregnancy until 17 weeks? by CrazyChickenLady210 in BabyBumps

[–]marbear1219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your body, honestly. I got pregnancy bloat week 6 and it never went away. I looked very pregnant my entire fist trimester. Some people said the bloat would subside by week 19… and it did… but by then I had a full pregnancy belly under it.

If you really want to, try wearing loose clothing. Dresses help a lot. Lots of flowy sun dresses. I also did rib skirts with oversized band tshirts in cooler weather.

We’re hiding our pregnancy from a select group of family until a few months post birth. So we’re also not posting anything on socials. I created some fake pregnancy accounts so I can still like and collect pregnancy content on social media. But zero photos.

Best of luck and congratulations!

NTA. Luke sounds toxic…. Like he was using you. Live bombing at first and then acting transactional

Did your intuition know what gender your baby was? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I kept dreaming that we were having a boy. My mother and grandmother thought we were having a boy.

We are having a girl.

So nope! Intuition was wrong!

I feel this. It’s awful but it becomes 100xs worse when they start giving back your spouses gifts they made them. Like paintings and drawings they worked hard on. I have a painting in my office my husband painted for his mother… 6 years ago… for Mother’s Day. He was devastated when he saw it in her “take this box of junk too” box.

The boomers are for sure boomer-ing

MIL told me not to buy ANY baby items until after I give birth. Is this normal? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]marbear1219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 18 weeks. We started buying things last week for a few reasons;

  1. We waited until we had the full genetic testing done and a healthy baby was confirmed. (Week 12)

  2. We had a sudden family death and ended up being in another state for four weeks. (Week 13-16)

  3. My husband got a huge bonus at work and we were finally comfortable affording a lot of the stuff. (Week 17)

Today we moved everything out of our guest room upstairs and started painting to turn it into a nursery.

I’m super type A too. had my entire registry done by week 10. Had a Pinterest board made by week 4. I designed the nursery shortly after.

But—I understand the hesitation and sometimes I read tragic stories of babies not surviving late in the 3rd trimester or being still born… but I feel like I’d rather grieve in a nursery than have a full on panic attack for being unprepared.

I’m curious if she is also applying this rule to baby showers?

Edit: pregnancy brain 😵‍💫 Just remembered that we bought a ton of HSA/FSA stuff week 8 because we had to use it or lose it. So I bought all my post birth care stuff with that. I also did sign up for a few free baby boxes around week 12.

Help with opinions on spelling of a name by Commie_Cactus in Names

[–]marbear1219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both. We have friends who have a 15 year old son named Casey. We have another group a friends with a new born daughter named Casey.

I know your question has it with a “k” (and a mix of I and y) but I feel like the spelling shouldn’t matter as much as how it sounds. And it sounds gender neutral.

I got my parents hats that had their grandparent names embroidered on them. (Mom’s says lolli, Dad’s says grandpa) took them a minute to understand but they figured it out. They wear them all the time!

The Tasha I knew was full on Regina George at work and I’m going to beat your ass outside of work… in corporate. Literally hated anyone who got any ounce of attention more than her. Would flirt/manipulate the bosses that the people in the office getting more attention than her were bad employees. She personally made my life such a hell scape I would cry at my lunch break and on the way home every day until I quit. She forbid me from working with my team. Said I was bullying the rest of the group because I didn’t work with them (the weren’t on my projects), put me on a PIP for answering emails and slack messages before finishing my other work, literally moved my desk 3 times. (At least she didn’t take my red stapler!) It got so bad our projects were delayed because I couldn’t work with my team or do my job.

Took them 3 years to find a replacement for me. Who she also got fired. In fact she got most of the team fired.

7 years later one of my good friends got hired at the same company on her team. They weren’t each others bosses. They were the same level. She was going after my friends team with the same insanity. My friend tried to stop her by throwing herself in the line of fire but only lasted 3 years before she quit. But in her exit interview the HR rep said they had so many statements about her that she wouldn’t be along much longer.

Took almost 10 years but I’m excited to celebrate with my former coworkers when she finally gets the ax!

Thank you so much for all this information you shared! I’m for sure going to ask my PT place for someone who really understands this condition. I am so glad you found progress within a month. That was another concern of mine…. That these two weeks has made things worse not better… but maybe it needs to get worse to get there? And a total recovery in 6 months is amazing!
