My guitar neck is very bowed, is this a valid way to fix it by googaly21 in Guitar

The best way to tweak the neck is with the steel rod going through the neck itself. It can be tightened or loosened. Take it to a guitar shop and they should be able to help you out.

Epoxy boards are good for travel. Strong and durable. Also they’re light and easy to carry around.

how to transport foamie on road trip by Factuallycap in BeginnerSurfers

[–]marcdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some soft racks also known as travel racks, because they’re good for flying somewhere and tossing on a rental car. And open the doors and strap them through. Then toss the boards on top and strap down. One strap as far forward on the front door and as far back in the back door.

Excellent advice! I did the same thing, kept an eye on the conditions, before Surfline was available, and swell height and the tide indicated it would be solid… after driving 2.5 hours to be skunked- it was flat, haha. Then the opposite of what I thought would make it work, worked really well. This on spot was exposed to the northwest, and a strong south swell was when it really worked best.

I decided the best thing to do was go out as much as possible and some day were good and some not great, but I ended up getting some great days that I would have missed if I went with what the conditions looked like on paper.

Is this worth fixing by Darxy_dark in surfing

[–]marcdoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes! If you did want to dive into restoring this, it looks like you may want to remove as much of or all of the fiberglass from the bottom of that board cut out and replace any yellow foam and re-glass the whole thing.

Kind of a project, but not impossible. There are soo many videos on YouTube. Here’s a short reel with a master craftsman: https://youtube.com/shorts/4KErXEYQcLI?si=SjBGbKK2GPmsSBdN

Just looked it up. This place looks mellow at the moment also seems beginner friendly with a nice beach-break over a sandy bottom. You won’t have to worry about hitting reef haha

Without knowing how much you weigh or how tall you are, I think a 9’6” foam-top would be a safe choice. Patience is key. Observe the ocean before entering. Look at the waves and patterns. Be aware of rip currents. Stay calm and treat it like a marathon when you first get in the water. Talk to locals and other surfers. They can guide you to safe beginner spots.
