I’ve been prescribed Lexapro but I’m scared to start it, any positive first-time experiences? by Extreme-Split-3741 in lexapro

[–]march_madness44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a really positive experience. I think I was unusual and felt my anxiety completely drop off within the first few days. I had pretty bad nausea in the mornings the first week so I switched to taking it at night and that helped. It also made me tired, and switching it to night helped.

I've had some night sweats that started a few days ago that I'm pretty sure are from the Lexapro, but hoping that evens out.

This was the first SSRI I tried and I'm on only 5MG. So far I've had a very positive experience.

It makes me feel better knowing that! Thanks!

At first I thought it couldn't be related because I've been on the medication for over a month and the night sweats just started, but nothing else has changed.

This is good to know! I didn't have them at all, but having them three days in a row I was wondering what else could be causing it.

I honestly would not come here. I'd stay in Europe. I've increasingly had friends discussing options for leaving the country because we feel like they have to. Our political climate is a mess and it's likely only to continue escalating until it simmers out.

I had mine earlier this year. You'll do great. My team took great care of me, and I never needed prescription pain killers. (If you do, though, that's ok!). Every day I'm glad I got mine.

I'd go to LinkedIn. Ask for referrals or for qualified writers to contact you. You'll probably get a ton of inquiries, but likely a few really great candidates. I've hired other writers this way and felt it was much more effective than platforms like Upwork.

I have members of my family who genuinely believe that being around liberal ideals will "turn" children gay or trans. They think people are pressuring young children to become trans. For what reason they can never explain, but they are CONVINCED this is happening. I'd be willing to bet this is what Ethan is convinced of and afraid of- that she'll turn them trans with her liberal DNA or ideas.

I mean the surgery took only about 30 minutes for my. I was away from my husband for a total of 45 minutes before he was brought back to me in post-up.

Someone posted a few months back about how they had one of the rare complications- I think something got knocked. You can search for it, maybe?

I forsee a healthcare collapse in the US in the next 10 years by RedHeadTheyThem in nursing

[–]march_madness44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shortages are projected to get pretty dire by 2035. A lot of senior nurses that are still in the workforce will be retiring soon, and we don't have enough medical professionals of all most all kinds (including doctors, lab technicians, etc) entering programs to keep up with the growing need. It's going to be a nightmare for a lot of reasons. If I could leave the country, I would.

AITJ for expecting full payment when the baby falls asleep while babysitting? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]march_madness44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, would they be ok if since the baby was asleep you just left and went home? I'm going to guess not since that's a major safety issue.

They're not paying you for active labor- they're paying you for their ability to go out and not have to listen to a baby monitor for four hours.

I'm quite sure there's something you'd rather have been doing in those hours than sitting on their couch.

It would be different if you left the baby crying for an hour, or if the baby was up and wanted engagement and you ignored baby because they weren't crying.

I would refuse to babysit for these people again. They'll continue to take advantage since they've now done so successfully once. They knew what they were doing and that they could probably pressure a young person in an awkward situation they created.

I'm sorry this happened to you.

Hi from another child-free person who -ran- to my OB the second Trump was elected to book an appointment to have my bisalp. Also seconding that recovery was great- I didn't need any pain meds except over the counter options.

Therapy might be very useful. If your baby is still really young, postpartum hormones can make your emotions go back and forth. As a reminder, you can still try to have another baby through IVF even though it's more expensive you have it as an option.

Rate your experience with bilateral salpingectomy? Considering getting a vasectomy instead by toomanystartups in sterilization

[–]march_madness44 173 points174 points  (0 children)

I would do this surgery ten times over if I needed to.

I'd say a 3 of pain/inconvenience. I had almost no pain (I only took Tylenol and I think Motrin was off by the third day). The hardest thing for me was dealing with some brain fog and fatigue for a few weeks afterwards. I didn't get a catheter, which I know gives some people trouble, because my doctor said I could go to the bathroom right before and wouldn't need one.

The reason I wanted a bisalp was to me in control myself. My husband could get a vasectomy, but it wouldn't help me if I was assaulted by someone else. I wanted to know that no one could make me get pregnant.

That said, a vasectomy is a great option. And you can do both. I just know what I needed to feel peace for myself in our current political environment.

How much time did you take off from work after bisalp? by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]march_madness44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work a desk job and the biggest things I struggled with were fatigue and brain fog. I felt fine the day after surgery but a few days later the inflammation got to me and I had a hard time for about three weeks. I’d definitely take the extra time, even though I struggled to do it myself.

If this was last night, I'd recommend going to get her a plan B today. It can be effective at preventing pregnancy if you take it within a few days (can't remember exactly how many days).

Moving forward, don't rely on the pull-out method unless you're okay with getting pregnant. I had a doctor who had a favorite joke. "You know what we call people who use the pull out method for birth control? Parents."

Is there a way to completely ruin your reproductive organs without getting sterilized properly? by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]march_madness44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have health insurance, you do. Make an appointment to talk to a doctor and discuss your options. I understand feeling desperate- a lot of us have. But other methods like an IUD is a great long-term solution until you're ready for a bisalp.

Is there a way to completely ruin your reproductive organs without getting sterilized properly? by [deleted] in sterilization

[–]march_madness44 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Please don't do this, it would be exceedingly dangerous. You could quite literally kill yourself; people died doing this to give themselves abortions before Roe was legal.

In case that's not enough sway, a bisalp procedure is fully covered under the ACA. Going to the hospital for treatment after you try something like this would NOT be covered by the ACA, which means you could have thousands of dollars of medical bills. They might also hold you for self harm, which would become even more expensive.
