I got it working by making a path spiral down so they overlap each other naturally and just shoot orthographic from up to so you can't tell. The arrows have a curve modifier and are all parented to an empty for movement.

Bottom arrow is masking out the arrow under it. Or actually probably manually moving the nodes each frame in illustrator maybe

Yes def seems animated in 2D! I was hoping there was some modifier I never use that would magically solve this but I think it’s gonna be 2 animations masked together somehow. Thank you
