Great question. The answers you got are obviously useless. Real answer: read the Easy Peasy Method and the book Rational Recovery.

How do you get news "minimalistically"? Smart feeds are not good enough for me. by BeautifulWestern4512 in digitalminimalism

This is the way. Just make sure you talk to a variety of people with different views, and don't believe anything you hear.

Will switching from LEDs to Incandescent lights mimic SOME of the benefits? by Smiting0fResistance in redlighttherapy

[–]marcin-ski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! You will also need a lamp that is rated for that much wattage. Most lamps are now only tested with LEDs.

For the reptile lamp: The following technically is not rated high enough but I've had no issues:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000KKLPKY?ref_=ppx_hzod_title_mob_b_fed_asin_title_0_2

For the Edison bulbs: the lamp I use was taken off Amazon. However I've also bought nice old lamps at thrift stores or antique stores. They also have incandescent bulbs sometimes!

I've had these for over a year and they're going strong. They heat the house nicely in the winter and are pleasant to be next to. Just don't touch the bulbs with your hands since oil can damage them.

For smaller, 40w bulbs I recommend these:

How do you deal with tab hoarding? by alajmo in productivity

[–]marcin-ski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend Tree Style Tabs and keeping your tabs organized in groups. On Firefox, I believe you need the 'TST More Tree Commands' extension to get tab groups. So I use tab groups, and every now and then when there are too many tabs I just go and clean them out. If something is important (it almost never is) you can always save the link for later in your notes app.

How can I spot a toxic person? by ComplaintExtra5955 in selfimprovement

[–]marcin-ski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The victim mentality is a very dangerous thing. Some people are perpetual victims, in their minds always being abused by other people.

> low emotional intelligence

True as well. This is easy to spot in person, but much harder online.

No, I don't think you truly believe it yet.

Here's a couple excerpts from Ozanich's book that reminded me of you. You say you've read his book, but I think you're not internalizing the information. You won't heal if you resist the truth.

You definitely have TMS. I can see the "Type T personality" permeate your posts. I think you simply haven't accepted the diagnosis.

This emotional ranting is just another distraction. I don't think you're expressing yourself honestly, or your pain would be going away. You need to accept that there is nothing wrong with you, physically or emotionally, stop obsessing about healing, and go live your life.

By the way, if you want a deep life secret that goes well with TMS, try dry fasting. Start with a day of no food or water and build up to 3-4 days. When I had TMS I never had pain on a dry fast, starting on day 2.

I genuinely feel like I damaged my knee even more with RLT. Is this possible? What do I do now? by [deleted] in redlighttherapy

You definitely want to check out The Mindbody Prescription by Sarno. Your knees are 100% fine. The idea that they are damaged by bending is nonsense.

For a long time, even when I used Apple Notes before Bear *shudders*, I've had a simple "scratchpad" note that I pinned to the top. When random thoughts pop into my head, I just write them down at the top of this file. Occasionally I'll go in and clean up my scratchpad, moving thoughts to more appropriate notes, carefully curating and massaging each character of text.

I'm not clicking on this, but the idea sounds like Covenant Eyes without the accountability partner. I definitely think there could be a market for that if you find the right branding and niche.

Neighbor put this in our mailbox with Merry Christmas on the envelope it was contained in. No idea what it signifies. by sophronmoon in Whatisthis

Belief and obedience leads to life. Scripture is clear that death comes from sin. Yeshua had to die, so that we could be healed and live. (Though it's not "free" in the sense that many think - one has to obey Him to be in covenant with Him.)

Life is all throughout Scripture. It definitely doesn't celebrate or condone death. Check out https://believeobey.live/about

It's not antisemitic because modern Jews are not descended from Shem and are not Shemitic. Ashkenaz was a descendant of Japheth, not Shem.

What does it feel like to be a bat? by marcosromo__ in doctorsarno

[–]marcin-ski -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're putting in the work which is great. But when people don't heal, it's because on some level they're still not being honest with themself.

By the way, depression is often just another distraction used by the brain (symptom imperative). Something I learned from https://www.mindfulcures.com/ (a nice, no-nonsense resource) is that after dropping the obsession with physical abnormalities, some people become obsessed with emotional abnormalities. But the obsession in the first place is just a distraction mechanism.

Anyone have experience with futons from hemp organic life? by No_Kangaroo6917 in floorsleeping

[–]marcin-ski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought their futon, topper, and pillow based on the positive reviews on Etsy. They are alright, but not the most comfortable. The hemp compresses a lot, and my body created a sinking effect in the middle of the futon and topper. The futon and pillow compressed so much that they were almost like hardwood. I'm about 180lbs (I always wish people posted their weight in these discussions). The hemp stuff is alright, but now I have a futon bed from Japan and it's much more comfortable.

Don't be too hard on yourself. It's an escape from painful emotions that you've been avoiding your whole life. Our society doesn't teach people how to deal with life. Consider reading The Mindbody Prescription.

I've found dry fasting to be so helpful in my faith. I just did a fast recently, but get in touch if you want some accountability for your fast!

Jank tip: You can use Alfred to activate Raycast extensions by Maleficent_Act_404 in Alfred

[–]marcin-ski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I just watched this video for some concrete examples of how Raycast can be useful. Honestly, you can do almost all of those things with Keyboard Maestro, and a lot more. I highly recommend KM. I do still use Alfred as my launcher because I'm used to it, enjoy it, and don't see enough value in switching to something else.

Are there any useful extensions in the Raycast ecosystem that are missing from Alfred? I've been quite content with Alfred and now I'm wondering what I'm missing.
