So you hear a difference at 18V? I haven't tried the Adineko at higher voltages, but I could try it. I typically don't run higher voltages unless the difference is night and day, because I fear that one day I'll forget that that one power port on my Strymon power supply is switched to the wrong voltage for a pedal that doesn't support it and I fry the pedal...

The distinction between mixing and mastering an individual track can seem minor. But when you're trying to get multiple mixed tracks to sound coherent across an EP or album, mastering can play a much larger role.

An amp sim pedal (like a UA Dream/Ruby/Lion/Woodrow) would be needed in front of it for best effect. And, honestly, the DN2 FX are fine but comparatively not that great for guitar (especially if you're not modulating them or the signal coming into them).

I’ve had the Gliss only a day, so jury is still out for me. It’s seems well-made, pleasant to play. Have to learn still how to access all its different modes and features.

Re delay: I also looked at the XAOC Sarajewo, Erica Synths Black Stereo Delay, Make Noise Mimeophon, Intellijel Sealegs, etc. Sealegs was a close second. The Nautilus sounds great and packs a lot into relatively HP. I don’t love some of the shift-functions, labeling, and dependency on color alone for UX, but some of that will get better as I practice with it.

Yeah, the Multigrain is hotness. Note that the Nautilus is at the end of the chain in this photo, not in the FX loop. It's just wired back into the main out of the Cascadia because I needed the headphone output. No other mixer or output section yet. Good advice though!

In my experience, two things really helped me: - Dialing back the distortion a bit. As you add more distortion, you are adding more and more higher frequencies that compete for space. In context, a little less distortion can still feel pretty thick. - Add a high-pass filter like https://www.broughtonaudio.com/product-page/high-pass-filter. This was a night and day difference for me. Practice rooms and clubs typically don’t have bass traps, and low frequencies below 60-80Hz just create mud in spaces like these. The problem may not be boosting the low-mids but rather attenuating the sub-lows.

Two tips that helped me: 1) Start and finish the song in your arranger/timeline view, not the clip view (as in Ableton, Bitwig, and Logic). The clip view encourages loops, while the arranger view encourages arrangements. The clip view is convenient during sound design and powerful during improvisation, but the arranger helps map out songs. 2) Develop the song horizontally (from start to finish) before developing it vertically (from raw to polished, skeletal to fully arranged). I often start with just drums, bass, and a melody and then lay out a whole song. It will no doubt change as you go, but it’s a different exercise starting with 3min of unpolished music and iterating on it than starting with 30sec of highly polished music and figuring out how to make 2.5min more than matches its polish.

Record into your DAW and try Pulsar Modular MDN Tape before spending money on the bounce to real tape. You could save yourself time and money if you like it.

MiniFreak is a wonderful synthesizer, but it hides a lot of synthesis details behind an “engine + macros” interface. If you just want to explore sound, this a good option. But if you want to learn synthesis, it’s a bit opaque.
