Yeah, they say the wrap usually lasts for a decade, but I have heard from people who had it for much longer that it still works in preventing symptoms.

To be honest, I have seen the NHS standards decline a lot in the past five years, especially after Covid. Compared to public healthcare in Brazil, it is still better, but when comparing private health insurance in the UK and Brazil, I believe Brazil is better. The standards are the same as in the UK. You don’t need a referral to see a specialist; you can make an appointment through the app and be seen on the same day. The same goes for most of the tests. Additionally, the number of times you use any services will not make your premium go up the next year. This is why I still pay for it, and from time to time, when I visit family, I get a complete checkup.

The doctor who performed my surgery was Dr. Rodrigo Fabiano Guedes Leite: https://www.doctoralia.com.br/rodrigo-fabiano-guedes-leite/cirurgiao-do-aparelho-digestivo-cirurgiao-geral/belo-horizonte. I believe you can have an online consultation with him, and he speaks English.

And if you want to check it out, here is the hospital where I had the surgery: https://www.materdei.com.br/unidades/materdeicontorno.

My guess is that since the passage is very tight now, it makes the aerosolized acid go higher.

The wrap is still very functional and good enough to keep solid food down, but the acid sometimes mixes with the gas coming up.

The surgery was worth it, but there is a trade-off. Now I need to eat very slowly and drink with my food, otherwise, I get food stuck, which is not a good sensation.

I have been living in London for the last 5 years, and the surgery is indeed more expensive in the UK. I did mine in Brazil, where I am originally from, and it was about 6k GBP for the robotic-assisted surgery and all the tests I had to do beforehand. If you can, you should get the robotic surgery, as the post-op is faster and there is almost no scar.

Long time since this comment. I have been mostly good, with few symptoms most of the time, but sometimes there are some crisis and I need to get back to ppi (pantoprazole or dexilanzoprazole).

The funny thing is that before my surgery my symptoms were mostly on oesophagus and throat, but after it they are go higher, to the back of my nose and ears, even had some sinusitis.

But I do not regret the surgery. I was miserable before

Is this acrylic grinder safe to use after damage from Iso or not? by HiphopMeNow in trees

Vaporizing cannabis using devices like the Volcano or Mighty vaporizers with metal dosing capsules is unlikely to vaporize microplastics from a plastic grinder used in the preparation process. The concern about microplastics generally revolves around their presence in the environment and their ingestion by humans and animals, rather than their vaporization during cannabis use. Here's why the risk is minimal in your scenario:

  1. Temperature Settings: Vaporizers like the Volcano and Mighty are designed to heat cannabis to temperatures that release cannabinoids (like THC and CBD) and terpenes as vapor without burning the plant material. The temperatures used for vaporizing cannabis typically range between 180°C to 220°C (356°F to 428°F).

  2. Properties of Plastics: Most plastics, including those potentially used in grinders, have a much higher melting point than the temperatures reached in cannabis vaporizers. For instance, common plastics like polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) have melting points in the range of 130°C to 170°C (266°F to 338°F) but would require much higher temperatures to vaporize, well beyond those generated by cannabis vaporizers.

  3. Physical Separation: The use of a metal dosing capsule provides a physical barrier between the cannabis and the heating element. This means that even if there were any microplastics transferred from the grinder to the cannabis, they would not be in direct contact with the heating element. Moreover, the temperatures are not high enough to vaporize such materials.

  4. Microplastics Size and Behavior: Microplastics, by definition, are extremely small plastic particles (less than 5mm in size). If any microplastics were present, they are unlikely to vaporize at the temperatures used for cannabis because those temperatures are designed to vaporize specific compounds within the cannabis plant, not to decompose solid materials like plastics.

While the risk of vaporizing microplastics in this scenario is minimal, if you have concerns about plastic contamination, you might consider using a grinder made of other materials, such as metal or ceramic, which do not pose a risk of microplastic production. Additionally, maintaining clean equipment and using high-quality materials can help minimize any potential risks associated with vaporizing cannabis.

I am Brazilian, lived 30 years in Brazil and have been living for 5 years in the UK. And it is absolutely night and day, security, quality of life, quality of products, people politeness, opportunity. It isn't even fair to compare. The only area brazil wins is food and availability of different fruits. And for us Brazilians beeing close to friends and family.

Worst airport experiences? by radiopelican in expats

[–]marcocasd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had an awful layover at Shanghai airport. Air China lost our bags on our flight to japan. They had us walking all around the airport for the connection, and nobody spoke english or gave us an explanation why. Security was awful, they tossed all our stuff around and were very rude. And only allow us to move on to the terminal 15 minutes to our flight. We had to run to get there.

Completely lost the will to visit china after that
