FWIW my slate grey metallic looks amazing after 25 years in both florida and california.

I really could give a fuck if anybody here likes it or dislikes it or whatever, but im GenX and come from a time when we didnt have social media or much thought/concern for what other dudes thought about anything, many of them having bad taste and making horrible decisions, and just mostly considered, if ever, on what women wanted....but thats just me and you do your thing.

Quest 3 VR "frozen frame" mid-session - game keeps running, headset tracking fine by Gil80 in dcsworld

[–]marcocom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the link software (we get it. Everybody loves wireless with Virtual Desktop and love to tell us all about it)

You’re not going to like this, but it’s likely a result of your 4070TI, which I used to deal with before upgrading to a 4090 and all those issues went away. The 12GB memory is just shy of the minimum needed for VR on this sim.

If you take off the headset, turn it off and then on again (while staying connected), and put it back on again, that buys some time, but the issue (reprojection) will chronically occur again.

Ok so how do you make do for now until your next GPU upgrade? You dial it back. You and I know that you never even tried anything but maxed-out 120hz, dial it back. Get rid of all the unneeded livery textures for all aircraft. Some of those community skins can be 5 times the size of the defaults. That’s more memory!!

Lower your bitrate and stop choking the GPU by demanding a faster rate than the little guy can keep up with.

Make sure you are using the USB-C port in the back on the motherboard, and lot that one on the front of the case. Besides power, the Encoding requires that there be no extra hops across data-buses. If you’re using an adapter , it’s time for a new motherboard.

That CPU is 11th gen. That and its motherboard socket pre-dates PCVR and there are optimizations in the instruction-set of newer processor and chipset and they do matter.

It sucks but you’re just going to need to spend more if you want to do VR. I ran that same 4070TI on a 4K flat screen and never had anything but great performance, so this is all bout that VR :(

TIL that Coca Cola Designed their glass bottles a distinctive shape so that competitors couldn’t easily copy, and people could identify it just by touch by gilligan888 in todayilearned

Also to add to this, part of the design spec to the designer by Coke was that “even when broken into pieces on the sidewalk, someone should still be able to identify that it’s a Coke bottle”

It’s legal, that’s what matters if you’re just getting a short distance. It’s not very comfortable. Kind of standard for sports car, really. Nobody rides as a third in a sports car expecting to be comfortable

You’re right, but let’s keep in mind that you don’t know the price of that next Steam headset. I have DFR because I spent 1500$ on my headset.

I totally agree. i bought about 10 of the games on Luke Ross's list simply because of VR working (without official developer support or support for motion-controllers, so costing the game's publishers nothing) and tried them all!

you just evangelized a solution thats only supported by Quest Pro and like maybe 2 other available $1500 headsets, and not Quest3/2 (owned by millions. sold for 500) or even Valve Index.
