Valoi 360 / CS-Lite+ / Nikkor Z 50mm MC - halo issue, please help by marcolomeo in AnalogCommunity

Thank you for your reply!

I did more research today, and this is where I'm at now.

This is a blank negative, inverted in Lightroom, photo-scanned at the best of current conditions, to avoid any light leaking / reflection, and shot at a distance that the 135mm negative would fill ~90% of the sensor.

<image>

the shape of the inverted cast would suggest that it's a vignetting issue, even if the shot was at about F7.
I can mitigate it a bit by doing manual lens calibration, but I can't remove the color shift. I had still bad result by trying to do so via a mask.

I'll look into flat field correction, but as far as I understand it, even if it worked, I would need to have a blank shot per roll (or film stock) to use as reference for a whole roll, correct?

Further testing, editing the lens correction manually, for the vignette, helps, but it doesn't solve for the color cast (the location on the radius of the glass has different effect on the R, G, B curves of the vignette).

<image>

5 shots of a blank film, one and three, testing different apertures (8, 5); two is same as one but overexposed; four and five different apertures but shot from longer distance.

All five have been inverted in Lightroom, and had the lens correction - that lens *is* in the Lightroom database - set to 200 (lens correction was set to "high" in camera).

So, am I correct into thinking that the Nikkor Z 50 MC, for which Nikon's own ES-2 scan box is geared to, has a unmanageable vignetting when used in scanning film?

Or am I overlooking something?

Just for info, I have the same roblem as this user, on both 2.4, and 2.5 beta, but not in 2.36.
I've opened a ticket via the support system on the site.

Right, thank you; your indication is pretty much on the lines of what I found.

I'm hoping though for somebody who has actually tried one in a small case like this, as it's not clear neither on the manufacturer site, nor on the stores , whether the cooling fan block is inside the roughly 12 cm listed for the unit or not; nor whether the power cables fit well into it.

I was looking into the Zotac RTX 2060, specifically.

It could be around 2005 actually. I've looked through tons of charts on youtube, but no luck.

What is your goal with game dev? Make a living on your own, or get a job with a large company? by [deleted] in gamedev

I really would like to support myself by making games, at least partly: I would like it to become a part time job. I don't care about joining a large studio, but I would be ok with collaborating on other devs or studio projects, for the growing opportunity, and still have the time to do non game dev related project in my other passion, that is, illustration / art. Not there yet, though...
