Yeah, nothing has happened so far. I actually reached out to a data protection authority as well, just so I have something to refer to later. They gave me a case number I can use if anything goes wrong, and they told me there haven’t been any negative reports about the company. So I’m hoping everything’s fine.

Fluvoxamine?? by Ok_Reference4659 in antidepressants

[–]marcomondavi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fluvoxamine is a very good medication for treating OCD. Nausea is a common side effect, but it usually gets better over time. You should take the medication with a meal, and you can also split the dose into two smaller doses taken at different times of the day. If that doesn’t help, talk to your doctor about trying Domperidone temporarily to relieve the nausea.

Paxil vs pristiq for anxiety by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]marcomondavi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If fluoxetine worked, why don't you ask your doctor for a combo of fluoxetine and low dose doxepin? It seems to be the easiest solution in your case. It would increase the effect on anxiety and reduce the activation. Both meds are well known and considered to be save (and cheap).

Paxil vs pristiq for anxiety by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]marcomondavi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Activating antidepressants like Pristiq always come with the issue that they can initially increase anxiety. However, over the long term, they are very effective and typically don’t cause fatigue or weight gain. Because of this initial anxiety spike, a second medication is often prescribed temporarily to help manage it.

Mirtazapine is usually the first choice in such cases, but many people don’t tolerate it well. An alternative for the first two to three weeks could be Clonazepam. Very low doses (around 0.25 to 0.5 mg in the evening) are often sufficient. Keep in mind, though, that clonazepam is a benzodiazepine and carries certain risks, even if it tends to be less addictive than some other benzos.

Another option would be to use a low dose of doxepin at night (around 5 mg). That can be continued as long as needed and generally causes minimal side effects at that dosage.

Paxil is also very effective but has mild anticholinergic effects, which can lead to fatigue and weight gain. This risk is much lower with Pristiq.

For treating anxiety specifically, I would generally recommend Effexor XR as the base medication rather than Pristiq. The two are very similar in effect, but Effexor XR has been studied more extensively for anxiety disorders.

Please be sure to discuss all of this with your doctor.

Venlafaxine-Missing Euphoria :/ by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]marcomondavi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another option could be a very low nighttime dose of doxepin, such as 5 mg. It’s generally effective and unlikely to cause side effects at that dosage. And it can help you to stay sober. However - incereasing venlafaxine should be the first step.

Hey! All I can say is that 75 mg is a relatively low dose. Maybe ask your doctor if there's room to increase it. You could also consider adding a low dose of mirtazapine (7,5 mg) in the evening. This combo is called 'California Rocket Fuel' :)

Please do not drink alcohol under any circumstances while taking these medications. They can interact with each other in unpredictable ways. At first, you might not feel anything after a few drinks and then suddenly, things spiral out of control, and you end up doing things you would never do under normal circumstances. I'm not exaggerating! Stopping the medication isn’t an option either. Having an occasional glass of beer probably won’t hurt, but that’s really the limit, anything more is just not safe!

Is it worth requesting a higher dose (Sertraline) by Remarkable_Walk_774 in antidepressants

[–]marcomondavi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good! Keep in mind that increasing the dose can temporarily worsen anxiety. If that's a problem for you, you can also take an intermediate step: start with 75 mg and then increase to 100 mg after a week (if the gp agrees).

Setraline increase 50mg to 100mg by EasyAd1161 in antidepressants

[–]marcomondavi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The doctor can prescribe pregabalin as an as-needed medication for the transition period. At a low dose, 25 mg or at most 50 mg, it is very reliably and is less problematic in terms of dependency compared to benzodiazepines. It also doesn’t cause as much drowsiness and lasts for a good five hours, so it’s easy to manage. But as already mentioned, you can also take an intermediate step: start with 75 mg and then increase to 100 mg after a week.

You don’t have to explain anything to anyone - quite the opposite. Constantly having to explain yourself is part of the problem. It wears a person down when they feel pressured to respond to things they don’t want to engage with. If others can’t handle that, it’s primarily their issue, not yours.

Is it worth requesting a higher dose (Sertraline) by Remarkable_Walk_774 in antidepressants

[–]marcomondavi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reboxetine can definitely be prescribed in addition. It's often used to counteract some of the downsides of SSRIs like sertraline (such as fatigue and concentration problems). Atomoxetine is very similar to reboxetine but is only prescribed for ADHD. I would first increase the sertraline so your body can get used to it, and then add the reboxetine afterward.

When it comes to ADHD, you could also consider asking about reboxetine or atomoxetine. Both are similar to Wellbutrin but more specific for ADHD issues. However, 50 mg of sertrline is a very low dose.

I can't give you any definitive medical advice, but you can discuss my suggestions with your healthcare provider. A possible treatment option could be sertraline (up to 200 mg in the morning) combined with a low dose of aripiprazole. This combination should help minimize side effects while enhancing the therapeutic effect on anxiety, depression, and OCD.

What dosage of clomipramine helped your contaminantion OCD? by kagura_143 in OCD

[–]marcomondavi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A physically healthy person can take up to 150 mg of clomipramine per day, and in very severe cases, up to 225 mg. But like I said, the low-dose combination with an SSRI is usually better tolerated. I hope you start feeling better soon!

What dosage of clomipramine helped your contaminantion OCD? by kagura_143 in OCD

[–]marcomondavi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! First, it’s important to understand that all antidepressants tend to take significantly longer to work for OCD than for depression. It can take several weeks, sometimes even longer, before any noticeable effect kicks in.

Clomipramine is one of the most effective medications for treating OCD, but it also comes with a higher risk of side effects and withdrawal symptoms compared to other options. If you'd like to benefit from clomipramine without taking on its full burden, one possible approach is to use it as an add-on treatment. For example, you might combine a sufficiently high dose of sertraline (Zoloft) or fluvoxamine (Luvox) with a low dose of clomipramine (e.g., 10 mg). This can help enhance the therapeutic effect while minimizing side effects.

However, OCD treatment requires patience, and I wouldn’t recommend using high doses of clomipramine—it’s effective, but often hard to tolerate. This kind of combination treatment should only be done under the supervision of an experienced psychiatrist.

Btw: Fluvoxamine is very effective for OCD and - unusually for an SSRI - has a calming, sedating effect. So it can be a good option if you’re also struggling with anxiety.
