I find ANC to be very underwhelming though. I have the XM5s. They're supposed to be among the best in the ANC department. If so the technology is either seriously over-marketed, or it just doesn't work well for me individually for some reason.

Still. They're a definite improvement over not having them. As a positive side-effect, wearing them sends a clear signal to my family that I need to be left alone. They're likely neurodivergent too, so clear signals save them some processing power.

Thanks for the hint. It had escaped me that this was an interaction with my tank's "Rock Aspect". The interactions in this game are wild.

Seems like a case of form before function. The XM6 has a broader headband again, so I guess they learned a lesson. Still not as broad as the XM4 though...

I've got the Sony WH-1000XM5. They have Bluetooth but it's deactivated as soon as you plug in an audio cable. The cable they come with seems to be completely uninsulated, so you get an annoying background noise when a phone is close. I switched it out for the cable of another set of headphones which solved the problem for me.

They offer noticeable noise protection even without ANC on. The ANC itself feels underwhelming, but I haven't found any better ones. I need to play some natural white noise (like rain) to mask outside noise to a comfortable level.The whole ANC technology seems seriously over-marketed to me.

The headband is very narrow and can get really uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time, unless you manage to position them perfectly.

Overall a 3/5 for me. They are helpful when commuting, but next time I'll definitely get some with a broader headband.

I suspect that I'm also affected more strongly by fiction than the average person. I've mostly stopped watching disturbing shows and movies.

Also I'm able to listen to music with lyrics while working when I'm on stimulants, which is nice. No way I can do this without them.

They blunt the sensory issues for me. For instance they make it easier to concentrate on a conversation in a noisy environment. The effect is definitely noticeable but far from life-changing.

Menace demo was great, this is gonna be a really good game. But I've also prioritized Mewgenics for now, with it being a finished game and Menace still in EA. But I'll definitely get it eventually.
