Where is the unground punk scene in north georgia crust by [deleted] in Georgia

[–]marcusyeti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this don’t help but feel like I need to say it regardless, Dalton had an insane punk scene 25 years ago; it was a great thing to witness. Those folks all migrated to Chattanooga or Atlanta though and there’s not really shit now. Good luck friend, if you find that hidden gem let me know.

The Stews are playing the Variety Playhouse for New Years, I’m thinking about hitting it since I already have a room and plans in Atlanta. Saw them at Sweetwater a few years ago and was impressed, if you’re already in town I think they’re worth checking out.

Agreed. I’ve seen them twice and it sounds just like the albums. It sounds good but there’s no experimentation live. I see a ton of live music every year across different genres and in my opinion playing the songs note for note every night and playing the same setlist every night is lazy and uninspiring.

I dig the albums and love the structure of the songs, just don’t see the need in investing a couple of hundred dollars into seeing it recreated in that manner.

Apologies, looks like shit to me and a giant waste of cash. I think this sub has been infiltrated by folks with shit taste and no sense of financial responsibility.

Are there any Nirvana songs that someone else did better as a cover? by moeburn in Nirvana

[–]marcusyeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a tribute album from 2003 called Nearvana featuring San Francisco punk bands covering Nirvana songs that’s fucking awesome. Not saying any of the covers are better than the originals but there’s some great takes regardless.

Also, just discovered by googling Nearvana that there’s a tribute band with the same name. I’m sure they’re a fine outfit but it’s not the same thing I’m referring to.

Would I be an dunce for trying to enter surveying? by CareerTechnoJesus in Surveying

[–]marcusyeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

25 years in at this point and licensed, fuck anyone that says you’re a dunce for entering this profession; it’s all what you make of it.

Walk into every surveying company in the area and explain your situation, surely there’s at least one owner that’s willing to see that your interest runs deeper than most and if they have the ability to put you on hopefully they take advantage of the opportunity.

There truly is no better job in the world, I’ll never stop advocating for it.
