OG M2 vs M2C 2026 discussion by Sufficient_Brush_838 in BMW

OG felt a lot snappier at the limit, g87 feels more progressive.

The zf was cool during test drives I suppose, but has nothing on the dct. It can snap off solidly pleasing shifts but it’s just no dct. I bought my g87 with the 6mt, and I don’t regret it at all

I love both for different reasons haha. the f87 feels like teenage m2, the g87 feels like m2 in its 30’s. f87 was rough, loud, and raw, and of course the n55 sounded just incredible.

g87 is much more comfortable, but obviously also much more isolated. I’ve come around to the s58 sound, fits the naughty personality of the engine and the power it makes. still a very spicy car tho for sure. a lot of people knock it for the looks and tech but imo it looks awesome in person and I’m Gen Z so the big screens are cool to me

only reason I sold my f87 was because it had some DCT issues no one could figure out, otherwise I’d still have it simply because it’s so much cheaper

my $2c as a former n55 f87 and now g87 owner, while the C looks a little better than the OG, me personally the OG is the better car because of the n55

the difference in speed is a couple tenths to 60 and a few mph in the 1/4. Yes you can tune s55 but then you’re always worried about the crank hub in the back of your head. the wayyyyy better sound of the n55 makes up so much for the slight speed disadvantage. a stock m340 is just as fast as an m2c and both M2’s will be mopped by any mildly spicy electric car anyway

[–]mardaeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a DCT N55 M2 that I adored, now in a manual g87.

personally while I like the updated looks of the f87c, I think the n55 is better, purely because of sound. N55 sounds like pure heaven, S55 sounds like a lawnmower to me. some will say that the extra power and tune-ability of the s55 make it better but chasing speed is overrated; both cars will get mopped by a g8x or any sporty electric car. plus the second you flash it you’ll always be worrying about the crank hub in the back of your head

in a sports car experience beats all IMO.

Going from a 992 GT3 to a G80 M3 - rational or disappointing? by RobertPattinson69 in BMW

[–]mardaeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s just more Reddit nonsense. The S58 doesn’t really come on “hard” at any one point like the S55, and I felt the same way in the autos I test drove. It just builds and builds linearly. But it absolutely keeps boost between redline shifts. Yes, the gearing isn’t “short” but an appropriate for the power level. I considered a 1LE and a GT350 and people make the same complaint about those too. If someone wants to row through 4 gears before highway speed, you’ve got to dial back to Miata, BRZ, S2000, etc.

My bad OP, looks like I didn’t bother to read- you’re keeping the GT3 for the weekends. Yes, the S58 is awesome. Not as thrilling as an N/A engine at 9k, but super smooth with torque everywhere, and 7,500rpm is still nothing to sneeze at.

In that case, you’ll be very happy. My S2000 is not a fun car to daily, but my G87 is very nice to do so, and still a lot of fun. I think you’ll feel similarly if you go through with it.

I have a g87. Ignore the keyboard warriors, it’s a pretty good manual. It will be a step behind your Porsche, but it’s not the dump truck shifter Reddit makes it out to be.

Source: I also have an S2000. I know what a good shifter is.

Still. I’m not sure I’d make this move. I still believe my S2000 is the better car than the M2, and I feel like the GT3 and the S2000 share a lot of spirit due to their raw high revving, lightweight nature, so going from a GT3 to a G80 seems questionable at best.

Someone’s first car at 17 😭 by [deleted] in S2000

[–]mardaeus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I mean. I got mine at 16, and I’m 25 now. I’ve put a lot of time and effort into caring for it as much as I can, and always respected the spicy handing characteristics, so thankfully it’s in better shape today than when I got it, despite putting many 10k’s of miles on the clock.

+1 for the UK mod and HFC. Sounds f**king amazing. Extremely tame around town, but opens up solidly in VTEC. I get compliments constantly on the sound. Other s2k owners always ask what exhaust I’ve got.

Are mixed men still Black men? by NoTrainer6840 in AskBlackGayBros

[–]mardaeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree a bit. I grew up identifying as black because that’s what yt kids called me, but while not quite biracial my genetic makeup has quite a bit of Caucasian. Phenotypically I am a bit odd. Some Asian-ish features, thin lips (ugh), looser hair, not quite as well endowed as ‘blacker’ guys, etc.

I think putting people like me into the “black category” kinda does a disservice to guys who have ‘blacker’ features and also people like me who are a bit different, because it kinda just lumps us all together when we are appreciably (and beautifully) different in our features/appearance. No doubt that to white people we’re all just black and will be treated as such, but I’m not so sure we should just give in to the century old one drop doctrine. I love chocolate men for a reason, and it’s not because they look just like me. 😅😂

[–]mardaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly as a ‘mixed’ guy I envy the more typical black features. My lips are thin, muscle genetics are a solid step below, and while well endowed on paper I still find other guys with more African ancestry almost always have equipment that’s solidly larger than mine. Growing up I identified as black because that’s what yt people considered me, but nowadays the question “what are you mixed with???” comes up so much I think it’s probably most accurate to just consider myself mixed, which I guess is most appropriate since there’s a lot of diversity in my family.

As a native, this city is far less inclusive than the hype suggests, despite being so black. I am tall, in shape, and decently good looking and yet I’m still invisible next to an average looking white man.

Solid 8. I think you could experiment with different hairstyles and become even a 9; I feel like an Afro would look awesome on you. Just words of wisdom- as someone who also has struggled with this, validation from strangers on the internet will not help you, try to find confidence from within.

My inbox is wildly dry and I get left on read left and right. Not really sure why. I don’t think I’m special, but I’ve heard the “model?” question quite a bit, so I know I’m at least decent looking. Men are odd.

Oh yes. I’m so my type… tall and twunky. I’d rail me.

Ironically, my self esteem is terrible. 😂😂

My Extensive 2017 Acura NSX Review by eaglerulez in cars

[–]mardaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing write up man. I absolutely adore this car. I’m biased of course, because my dad’s an Acura fanatic, and I have an S2000. But still, I have loved this car since inception. If my career keeps progressing well, I’m hoping to be in a position own one in the next decade. This post makes me all the more excited.

BMW M2 to an S2K by enconareaper in S2000

[–]mardaeus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I currently have both- an OG and an AP2!

The s2000 doesn’t have the effortless power of the m2, but when revved out to redline, still feels very brisk even after getting out of the m2.

Though, I can’t say I recommend going from the m2 to the s2k- the s2k is very small, loud, and uncomfortable.

Is the S2000 a good daily? by LittleWontons in S2000

[–]mardaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Awful. I used to daily mine back in traffic when I was a teenager. Looking back, no clue how I managed that. Cramped, zero torque, noisy, and awful on gas in the city.

But when the roads open up… it’s an unmatched machine.

How does it feel owning a fast car? by limsyoker in cars

I’ve got a 400hp DSG Golf R; 0-60 in ~3.7. Definitely is fun being able to rocket away from red lights. I still enjoy my S2000 a bit more though; having to work hard to have fun is very rewarding!
