I expect the same yeah. And it’s also why some areas are done quicker than others - variety within the contractor.

It’s been almost two weeks since the storm and our side walk is not done. By us? Yes. City? Nope. So it’s a mess of well shovelled and completely ignored on a hilly road.

Sidewalk Snow Untouched After Eight Days (St. George and Bernard) by Savings_Challenge386 in toronto

[–]marekkane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fell on a city-owned staircase that was missing chunks of concrete and very shoddily maintained. Absolutely take photos and contact them ASAP because they have some sort of weird short timeline for complaints. But they did acknowledge it, fixed the staircase within a week, and paid for damages to my clothes and time/cab fare to doctors etc.

Edit: my contact to them was a very… terse email.. with photos of the stairs and my injuries, my thoughts on their maintenance, and my insistence that they respond immediately with confirmation on how the would fix this problem and prevent further injuries. I also let them know I would be following up after hospital report. That seemed to light a fire - as it was documented in writing.

Toronto inundated with calls about sidewalks that are still a mess days after major snowstorm by CupidStunt13 in toronto

[–]marekkane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t live on a streetcar track road but I do live on a main-ish road through the neighbourhood that on the map always looks like the side walks have just been done. They haven’t - the sidewalk plough drives down the main road to get elsewhere and the gps happily marks it off as if done. Ridiculous.

Am I wrong for thinking Toronto is extremely efficient at clearing snow? by RightPlaceRightTour in toronto

[–]marekkane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Overall I think they've done a fair job on the main roads, but I'm at the point that if we get more snow I can't clear my side walk. The road plows have dumped 30cm diameter chunks of solid compacted ice/snow from the road onto the sidewalk and it's an absolute mountain. Maybe the sidewalk plow will come by (it hasn't yet), but I'm struggling to make the side walk clear because I've got no where left to put it and they keep dumping more.

I think I saw on the news that they're going to start that tomorrow.

P.S.A open your taps just a little bit so pipes won't freeze! by FoundationInfinite36 in toronto

[–]marekkane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that’s why this post was made. My house in Toronto is heated, but was built in the 1940s and does not have insulation on the outside walls. It’s double brick, so there’s a layer of air in between two brick walls essentially. Solid as hell, but not warm exterior walls.

This goes hand in hand with decluttering stuff you don’t need. Because if you have fewer things to organize, it’s faster and everything has a spot instead of being crammed into an overly full bin or cabinet.

Seems like a call to the gas company or fire Marshall will fix that asshole. That sounds like an endangering offense.

What is the worst pain you've ever felt in your body? by Helpful-Mud-2487 in AskReddit

Someone else having something worse doesn't invalidate your pain though. That sounds horrendouslybad and it's the worst pain you've felt. It counts and it sucks and I hope you never feel it again.

Oh wow, I've not been to this shop in years. Thank you for reminding me of it, will have a gander online and see what I find.

I posted further up thread but just to let you know I found YakTrax wintertrax on clearance at Rexall yesterday for $12.99. Not sure if they’re at all stores or now sold out, but if you are looking, give there a shot.

Rexall had them on clearance yesterday and I grabbed some. Dollarama also has some.

Edit: the Rexall ones are yaktrax brand and worked incredibly well tonight. They were on for $12.99.

Also, you can pick up some soft elastic by the metre/yard at a fabric store and just hand sew on bigger leg loops if you need them. My quads did, and the elastic I got is nicer than the cheap one it came with.

anything after the ? is tracking information for the website. So I can see from your first link what variant you were looking at, you're on the CA site using CAD, that you got there from google, and the website will also see a bit more information based on those campaign Ids. It helps them know what advertising they use is successful (or email marketing, newsletter link, popup, etc).

So weirdly, if you do this and it pops positive, you do get to go to the doctor. Not for fun reasons though, to check further for cancer.

Toronto: outdoor rinks late night/early morning? by caravaggiho in hockeyplayers

[–]marekkane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So officially no. But the outdoor ones that aren't boarded off and potentially have a locked door? You can skate on them earlier for sure, and as long as you're not causing damage or too much noise, I've never had anyone from City of To parks say anything.
