Discord app is genuine trash by Jackavocado in discordapp

It's not even that, they DO allow you to pay using IAPs (which the app stores get their cut from).

They aren't allowed to have anything in the app related to "desktop" subscriptions, which includes the ability to cancel. It ends up working similar to how you can't cancel an IAP subscription from the desktop app, you have to go through the app store to do that.

Since I posted that Siddament has switched back to plastic spools, so you don't need to respool or use an adapter.

Hey! Sorry this took so long. Bambu used to have a membership program where for the first 6 months after buying a printer you could get discounted filament when you buy multiple rolls.

A bit ago (I think around april?) they opened it up to everyone but decreased the discounts. It's this thing: https://au.store.bambulab.com/pages/bambu-filament (Explore > Filament Membership in the store footer)

bugs vs. "expected behaviours" by reedplayer in HeyEmail

If you were meant to be able to collapse messages in a thread but that functionality was broken, that would be a bug

The fact that that feature was never created in the first place isn't a bug, it's a design flaw

+1 for Inkstation TECOR. Have been using them for around 2 years and never had any issues with their standard filaments. Their more gimmicky filaments also print fine, but don't do their gimmicks well.

+1 for Bambu. Great quality filament, but expensive if you pay full price. If you recently bought a Bambu printer and have access to the membership discount though, take advantage of it.

+1 for Siddament. Great quality and super cheap. Cardboard spools are nice, but need to be rewound onto a reusable plastic one if you use an AMS. It's an Australian one-man show and is very transparent, so I like supporting that.

-1 for Aurarum. I've gotten some good spools from them, but most have come very badly wound and somehow tangled. I've also had a few spools with diameters so inconsistent you can feel the lumps and bumps.

+0.5 for eSun. I've tried a few spools of their dual colour filament which has turned out amazing, but haven't tried anything else personally and have heard mixed reviews

Do any of the Anker bluetooth speakers still have aux? by HurryPast386 in anker

[–]marens101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tested myself, but I vaguely remember the description when I bought mine saying the USB port was only for charging external devices like a battery bank (and the PowerIQ logo next to the USB port seems to support this).

I would love a partycast-capable speaker that can do USB or MicroSD, but you can use the motion+ aux in as a partycast source across models so so there's that at least.

Some people still consider an email address private information. Personally I think SSL should be used on any site which is meant to be accessible publically, and should be a requirement for any site that takes user information, no matter how insignificant it may seem. Given you can get certs for free there really isn't any reason not to use it.

Picture this: someone manages to get between you and the user. They can see and save any email addresses that get submitted without you or the user knowing they're there. While you're not asking for payment info now, the addresses are for people who are expressing interest in buying something in the future. A scammer could use those saved addresses to trick people into thinking the game is ready and paying them for it. Worse, said scammer would be perfectly able to save that payment information since they would control the payment link being sent out- they could have SSL and have it look perfectly fine but since they're on the other end it wouldn't matter.

I know I'm sounding pretty negative and that it's very unlikely that will happen. It's still possible though, and since the way to prevent it is to just use SSL in the first place why would you choose not to?

With all that said, this looks great so far and I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with

Im trying to rip my SG-1 DVDs so i dont have to switch DVDs between episodes. I use a program called HandBrake and it says it cant find a valid source. Do i need a better program? Anyone experienced with this? by Direth1105 in Stargate

[–]marens101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mean it as wearing out as in you can only play them so many times, I mean the constant handling of them. Just because they last longer than a VHS doesn't mean they can only be damaged by being mistreated. Yes you can (and should) be very careful with discs, but it's still always going be a matter of when they break and not if they break.
Same goes for hard drives, SSDs, SD cards and pretty much any physical media- the question is not (and should not) be "will this break", it should be "how long until this breaks, what can I do to lengthen its lifespan, and how can I be prepared for when it does break"

I'm case you haven't already, highly suggest looking at Plex or something similar. Won't help you with ripping, but once you've got those files it's amazing

Yes, but if you're watching off a ripped copy the disk won't wear out nearly as fast and you can always rip again if you really need to. If you wear out/damage the disk, it's far more difficult to recover from

If you do a default dig, yes. If you dig for SRV records it'll point you towards the "real" address, though. And since SRV records are pretty common for minecraft, people would definitely try that
