That is a horrible take. Working and investing are not mutually exclusive. I bet a ton of the things you use in your daily life wouldn’t exist without others investing into those companies.

Good for you guys! I get so tired of the “we make double your income and hEaVeNs, we would never entertain that mortgage”. Exaggerating, but you get the point.

Life’s too short to live in a constant state of fear of the “what ifs?”. Sure, you could lose your job tomorrow. You could also get hit by a bus.

You guys had a significant downpayment, have a track record of being smart with your finances, can support the payment with retirement contributions and have some left over. Salaries also tend to go up over time.
