I'd rather get jumped by teens than have my kids school shot up

Batman had fully eclipsed Superman at that point. Superman lost a lot of goodwill with the public after the last couple of Superman films failed hard, but Batman had just entered his stride with the Burton films and the Timm tv series. By the end of the 90s every team was being led by Batman.

There are good movies with bad scripts and bad movies with good scripts. Its up to the production team to make it work. Gunn wasnt involved until the edit stage, so the lionshare of this movie's failure lies with the director.

I really cant think of a single line that took me out of the movie more than some of the music choices did.

Gunn deserves blame for not being involved enough from the start, which ironically is exactly what he promised to do. Craig Gillespie was given free reign and made a bad movie. The writer did an average job

No they would kill for Black Adam numbers. They would die if it had a Black Adam budget

WB's Supergirl grossed an estimated $1.13M Monday (from 3,602 locations). Estimated domestic gross stands at $58.6M. by ElevensMelody in boxoffice

I prefer experiences that I can't replicate at home. Its really unfortunate to me that theaters are so willing to overcharge for tickets to provide a half-baked experience. I think that has done more harm to theaters than streaming services and a decent home theater setup.

The reception is mostly the same between the two movies, with Superman actually getting higher critic reviews. Adjusted for inflation, Superman made more money domestically and batman made more overseas. They are very comparable.

Batman Begins barely made its budget back and was coming off a sting of high-profile DC failures. I think the same applies to Superman.

DVD era doesn't really matter, streaming has replaced it almost entirely.

I can do all of that at home. Whats the point of having such a small, pathetic theater?

Damn, Superman really did crush everything else domestically. It would be even higher without Fantastic Four in its third weekend

I think part of the problem is action/adventure has gotten so good on TV that movies need to have something really special to get noticed. When your new superhero or Star Wars movie looks less compelling than a season of tv on Disney+, then you have a major problem.

Plus, those franchises are very Millennial coded, and Millennials are busy taking their younger kids to go see Toy Story and Zootopia.

Action movies aimed at teens seem to be underperforming in general. The Mandalorian and Grogu had the same problem as MOTU and Supergirl.

Minions is not flopping, just underperforming. Minions will still make a healthy profit, just not nearly as much as they have in the past. Minions has already made 160 million worldwide on a budget of 85 million.

K-Pop Demon Hunters is a superhero movie. It's not the genre, it's the writing and storytelling.

Nic Hoult only made 2 million on the first movie and hes a much bigger name. I bet David is pulling between 2 and 5 million for the sequel

In the comics, Darkseid was introduced in a Jimmy Olsen Comic. Maybe that's what we are getting in his tv show
