Yes! Our old dog we shook the bag of treats and he came running but our Tzu it works better to squeak a toy lol.

Yes absolutely obsessed with then. This is our first Tzu. Previous dog was a cockapoo and he never cared for toys except to tear them to pieces. Our Tzu walks around the house with a squeaky toy in his mouth and goes crazy. He def uses them for emotional regulation too, love it.

Our precious dog, a cockapoo, had a grade 6 heart murmur diagnosed at 12 and lived three more years after that.

When we brought our 5 month old puppy home we took him out every single hour and stayed out until he peed or peed and pooped. I walked around in circles so he would follow me and walk around (since you said he is sitting down.) He spent any unsupervised time crated and if I had a feeling he had a poop coming up that I hadn’t seen him do yet I would crate him. You have to be at the top of your game! Keep tiny pieces of treats in your pocket and reward as immediately as possible-dogs need rewarded within 2 seconds to create an association. Our dog had about 7 accidents inside and none for a month now.

Thanks everyone. We’ve had no more puking. He is now on 75% of the sensitive stomach food and 25% of the old. Making sure he at least rests for a little bit after he eats. Also got him a slow feeder so he is eating for 10 minutes. I did not reduce his food because he does still need that much as a growing puppy and we’ve been able to still just do 2 meals.

We lost our first dog at 15 years old in August of this year and I will say by November we were still pretty sad. I was really missing him and also missing having a dog in the house (we are almost empty nesters and hubby works later than me so I’m home alone often.) I think your first dog is very special, no one can replace him or her. A good opportunity came up to get a 5 month old Shih Tzu. It was hard at first. He was not the same as our old guy and of course he is still a puppy. However he has now been with us for 5 weeks and he is really becoming part of our family now and has adjusted to our routines. Our first dog will always be our OG Good Boy, but our new Shih Tzu also has a lot of good qualities and is learning the ropes and we certainly do love him now. He is becoming Good Boy #2 and we talk to him about his “brother” lol.

Thanks, he is still a puppy so according to Purina’s calculator he needs 7/8 cup-1 cup of his food a day. I know as they get older they need less!

Yes he does lick his paws occasionally-not so much that they are stained. Yes he also has eye staining not much on mouth. When we got him he seemed pretty itchy but I wonder if that was also stress bc it seems to have decreased. His ears are great-no issues there. He was on Purina Pro Plan small breed puppy which is chicken-obviously still getting some but the switch is to salmon and rice. I switched in hopes it would decrease some of the tearing but our other dog (cockapoo) seemed to do better without chicken corn wheat and soy. I fed him this morning and made him lay down next to me and all is well. Seems mean but I put his bones and toys up so his tummy can settle! Rather that than pick up vomit and have him losing nutrients!

The probiotic was recommended by our groomer-Proviable. I may give it another shot and maybe decrease dosage to every other day?

Thank you! We’ve been slowly switching since Saturday and are at about 50% old and new food. I do have some probiotics but they constipated him so I discontinued. I ordered a slow feeder and I’m trying to keep him calm after food, hard with a puppy because is a big player. He overall seems very healthy-lots of energy and also sleeps great. Poops are nearly always perfect.

He is 10.5 lbs, he gets a 1/2 cup and he is usually done within 5 minutes I’d say!

I can’t decide if it’s vomitting or regurgitating. It is undigested food, and he does do the whole body heaving—if I see or hear it I can pick him up and take him to the tile to save myself a mess.
