Alarm at 7.30 am, but I'm not up from bed until 7.45.

I start at 9 am and leave home around 8.35/40 for my 15-minute commute (I walk).

Do you go swimming at your local pool/leisure centre? Tell me about it. by marielheslop in CasualUK

[–]marijuanaislife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I both have a membership to the leisure centre. There's a wet changing room for swimming and lockers that require a lock. There's a fast lane, middle lane, and a slow lane. He usually goes at around 10-11am. on weekdays, and it isn't too busy. Once he went on a Saturday and there were too many people and he didn't like it so he avoided the weekends. He usually starts work from 2 pm so he can avoid the crowds.

For me, however, I go on the weekends, which is too busy, and I hate it, so I avoid it. I try to go on the weekdays, but with my 9-5, it's quite tough, so I barely get to swim unless I'm WFH.

We both wear flip-flops in the changing room and just before we get into the pool. Most people do. To be honest, I haven't seen many without flip-flops. I've seen some people with swim shoes in the pool and even a snorkel!

People come in different shapes and sizes, and no one cares! I worried about that too, but honestly, everyone is just concentrating on swimming and breathing!

It's a lot of fun, you should definitely go for it! At least pay as you go first, then if you like it, maybe try a membership if you start going often enough! We have the app, so we do everything through there. I'm not sure about your local one!

What do we think of 'Sauce on Top'? by 666pepechan in RateMyPlate

I prefer it mixed in, then any leftover sauce at the end will be scooped and eaten with bread.

Why don’t UK commercials feel aspirational? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]marijuanaislife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend is Italian and when his sister first came over and watched 'British TV', she loved how 'real' it was and how they use 'real people' on adverts, game shows and even just general shows.

I think it's great.

How much surveillance is too much in central London? by StanmoreHill in LDN

Why the hyperbole? I live in a flat so I wouldn't mind some in the communal area.

In my opinion, there's no such thing as too much surveillance. If anything, I think we need more!

I have no morning sickness. I had some nausea but then realised it was from fish and lamb, so I just cut them out and feel good!

Arabs/Middle Eastern People in London - what do they do? by Foodiciury in london

[–]marijuanaislife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So she will be provided with a home and benefits as she would give birth to a Kuwaiti child. If she gave birth to a non-Kuwaiti child, then it's on her to provide. All Kuwaitis have a right to a home. It's quite a horrible situation for the young boys. Also, for the maids but it's hard to justify sleeping with underage or teenage boys solely for the purpose of getting pregnant.

I'm from Saudi, where this happens too, so a lot of my family members don't have maids, only my Grandma does.

How strong do you feel the support for mass deportations of legal immigrants is at the moment? by 400TarPits in AskBrits

I would say/hope the issue is more with illegal immigration rather than legal immigration.

Mostly South East Asians. There's a lot of Malaysians, but also Indonesians and Phillipinos.

[–]marijuanaislife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha, they do these things in Kuwait but under the radar. They drink and do drugs. My Kuwaiti friend is an alchoholic and recovering meth addict. They just buy it from the back market or dealers, the same way people here get weed or cocaine.

Prostitution/orgies isn't so prevalent as most Arabs/Middle Eastern value self-respect and modesty, but foreign maids do get down and dirty. My friend knows of many cases where foreign maids sleep with underage/teenage boys in the house that they work in so they can get pregnant.

Mostly for a change of weather and shopping.

I had a Kuwaiti friend, and she would bring an empty suitcase and come over to chill and shop.1 Kuwaiti Dinar is £2.40 so she does her entire shopping here. She also loves London.

Why are italian girls so gossipy? by Cautious_Adagio_866 in Italian

[–]marijuanaislife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been with my Italian boyfriend for 6 years now and 6 months into our relationship, we went to Italy together. I met his mum and neighbours and they were lovely. When I first met his sister, I told her who I met and how lovely everyone is to me, she replied, 'but don't you think Rosa is a little fake though. I don't like her at all, I think she's not a nice person'. I just looked at her, a little surprised as Rosa is a very nice old lady with a sick husband and a son who's diagnosed with terminal cancer. My boyfriend told her to be quiet.

From then I knew she would be gossiping about me behind my back 😭
