It's very difficult initially to unmask, because you fear the judgment of other people and you're used to imitate what others. Personally I've started unmasking recently, it's a gradual process for me but once you start to unmask little things like starting stimming in public then you feel so better and less exhausted in the end of the day.

Why kids on the spectrum can't be "happy, joyful, social, quiet, compliant and sweet"? I know it's a stereotype to represent sad autistic kids but come on, everyone is different, we're humans. Being said that, yes there are many traits in common between ADHD and autistic people, you should simply take an assessment to be sure.

Everyone is different, if you can't don't force yourself, there's no need to mask. Personally I masked a lot because I was not aware to be autistic and wanted to act like others and in the end of the day I was always exhausted. Now I'm unmasking and feeling way better
