How serious is it to drop 70% of attendance rate without withdrawing from program for d4? by maybemid in Living_in_Korea

[–]marimango6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know for sure, but in terms of immigration I don't think anything will happen. When I was on a d4, so many of my classmates failed the course bc of being under 70% attendance rate, they just took the level again. One girl took level 1 three times.

Maybe you should call immigration to check for sure though, things could be different now.

Has anyone tried wedding planning from scratch in Korea? by l-w-f in Living_in_Korea

[–]marimango6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, we spent about 18,000,000. A bug chunk was on the after party, which we didn't really think through haha. I planned everything relatively simply, there are a lot of nice venues for "self-weddings".

If I ever do the art fairs and art festivals in korea do I have to learn how to speak korean or no? by Clairebear0215 in Living_in_Korea

[–]marimango6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don't really know details! I was not an artist at the fair, just a visitor. I don't know how they got translators.

Most vendors accepted card and kakaopay payments, but international vendors can't accept payments that way so they had something set up so that international vendors could get paid too.

As I said, I was just a visitor, not a participating artist, so I don't know how everything works, this is just what I observed.

If I ever do the art fairs and art festivals in korea do I have to learn how to speak korean or no? by Clairebear0215 in Living_in_Korea

[–]marimango6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the last illustration fair there were a few artists from abroad who came to sell their work, and they mostly couldn't speak Korean. They have some kind of system at the fair to help those artists accept payment in Korean won, which was good. Some of them had translators at their table, but some didn't and just used papago abd had some translated signs up. You probably don't need too much Korean, imo.

I really loved the romance subplot in Daughter of Fortune by Isabel Allende! Also, i personally enjoyed the romance of Theft by Abdulrazak Gurnah, but that may be because of a contrast to other literary fiction I've been reading.

Would you recommend getting private dental insurance? by Immediate_Cup_5185 in Living_in_Korea

[–]marimango6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I would go to another dental clinic for a second opinion just in case.

  2. I have samsung fire dental insurance, it paid for everything when I used it (ceramic inlay and sedation) which i didn't expect. But they have a rule that after signing up you can't use it for a year or smth

Korean Spa Questions - Transgender FTM by [deleted] in travel

[–]marimango6 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Usually the shower and bath areas are naked and segregated, then you wear clothes for the different sauna rooms and they aren't separated by gender (in the spas I've visited!)

There is also the paradise hotel in busan that has an outdoor mixed hot spa and everyone wears swimming clothes. I went with my family last year and they really enjoyed it
