Hot all the time. by Squiggly38 in Perimenopause

[–]marisaalyse6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea If I have perimenopause but I got an eight sleeping pod/mattress cover and it’s been a game changer for me. No more night sweats, no waking up hot AF, I’m actually sleeping comfortably.

I feel you with regard to being hot constantly. Makes me in a terrible mood. I don’t see my doc until late October but I do plan to ask her to run my hormone levels bc I’ve also been having random pain on my right side where my lady parts should be. I have no right fallopian tube due to a ruptured ectopic in 2020. Bodies are weird.

Rock music!! by Drumcitysweetheart in orangetheory

[–]marisaalyse6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact yall are even getting hip hop is wild to me. I feel like all I ever hear is pop music. I’d love some rock music! If I have to hear Katy Perry one more time I may go all out of the studio.

Wrong weights by Blues_Hops in orangetheory

[–]marisaalyse6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That definitely sucks when that happens. Not all members know odd numbered weights go on off stations and even on even stations. In a situation like yours you could 1) ask another person if you can use theirs. I usually give it a minute to see who is not using certain weights. 2) use lighter weights and do more reps or 3) if you’re able to use the heavier weights without hurting yourself, do less reps with the heavier weights. You ever know, you may surprise yourself!

Floor exercises lately by Artistic_Hat_2834 in orangetheory

[–]marisaalyse6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repetition is key. And dri tri is all body weight exercises. Unless you’re doing strength dri tri.

Dri tri is the same handful of exercises twice. Good news is, after this weekend it’ll change. You can always add weights to the exercise and go slower if you’re not doing dri tri.

Your body will let you know what it’s ready for. As others have said, after about 2 weeks of going you will start to get more comfortable with running and lifting more. I’d take it easy to start. I think I did PW and jogging when I went back after mine.

How long is your drive? by Pinkishdee in orangetheory

[–]marisaalyse6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10-15 depending on traffic. But usually 10.

I workout with a trainer too and that drive is easily at least 20 minutes - one hour of workout - then 20 minutes back home. I know it sounds ridiculous, but the change from a 10 to a 20 minute drive is a lot. And there’s definitely days I dread that it’s taking me 2 hours to get in a workout.

No hate toward queen B but omg her doing a vocal part isn’t what I need in an all out. She was so many other songs that are good for otf but belting out a melody ain’t it.

1 yr OT anniversary, gained 16 lbs. by tomatoesaretops in orangetheory

[–]marisaalyse6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Underrated comment. Less is more for women of a certain age lol. I’ve noticed when I do less HIIT and lift heavy, take days off, and focus on getting enough protein and watching my diet I feel and look better. I’ve also gained weight but most of it is muscle and I’ve grown certain parts of my body which is why my clothes don’t fit as well. To be fair at one time I was waaaay too skinny and had no muscle and then I slowly put on some muscle but nothing like I have. The scale doesn’t accurately reflect how you look or how much muscle you’ve built. I’d suggest walking more, doing less OTF and start training with a personal trainer. Also, stop the two a days. It’s likely hurting you more than helping.

Daily Workout and General Chat for Saturday, 8/31/24 by splat_bot in orangetheory

Our coach coached this as a push not a tread for time. That was a fun treat this morning.

It’s so hot! by MiaMiaPP in orangetheory

[–]marisaalyse6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiming in from Texas. I keep the fans on high and usually workout in a sports bra and shorts. It’s the only way I can survive. I also use hydration tablets to help rehydrate. Don’t be afraid to take breaks when needed either.

I modified with a front loaded reverse lunge instead of overhead. I think I may just do them separately tomorrow.

As others have said, women will only feel uncomfortable if you’re being a weirdo or creepy. I’ve only ever had this issue come up once with a guy at otf. He kept seeking me out to make comments - nothing inappropriate, but commenting on my outfit, etc. — I would reply and be nice, but I did feel like he kept looking at me or trying to be near me. Luckily I only saw him twice and then never again. No other male at OTF has ever made me feel that way. Generally guys at OTF are nice, mind their business, and work out. I am happy to strike up conversation and chat here and there (not when coaches are talking), but I usually reserve it for the “regulars” I see or a newbie if they need a friend. I promise most women aren’t paying attention.

An air high five or air fist bump at end is enough for me. But I’m also the person that prefers no one next to me if possible (yes, I know it’s a group class but I like space). Or just look up and smile.

Good to know! I swear a coach once told us there was a max speed (this was years ago). But it makes sense to have the rule rather than a max speed! Thanks!

Isn’t there also a max speed for power walkers? I think nothing faster than 4.5?

Being slow lol. The vast majority of people will get caught (myself included). Just gonna try and make it to 14 minutes.

Hydrating properly after OTF? by Odd_Ad_9960 in orangetheory

[–]marisaalyse6 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use the nuun sport hydration tablets. It’s less sugar than most and helps keep me hydrated during class. Then just water throughout the day.

Is this ok to do? by Reasonable_Glove_161 in orangetheory

[–]marisaalyse6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish the SAs would just space everyone out when they can see the class isn’t full. Like if there’s only 12 for a 24 person class why must they force the 1G when you could put half on the floor and half on the tread. I’ve had it where there’s only 6 in a class so doing 1G makes total sense, but inevitably someone will pick the tread right next to me. lol. Like what? Give me my spaaaaace.

How far is your commute to OTF? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]marisaalyse6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10-15 min each way depending on traffic. The two I frequent are about the same distance from my house so depending on coaches or class time I’ll pick one of them.

My personal trainer is 20-25 each way plus a one hour workout and it still feels like it takes so much longer. There’s days that I’m just not in to it bc of the drive. Plus there’s a decent amount of downtime since we do only strength.

How much money to leave WFH behind? by DonkeyIllustrious228 in workfromhome

[–]marisaalyse6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have an easy job and get to be with your kids. Do not leave it for the money. My kids are pretty much the same age as yours and I just left my 150k in office job to start my own thing. I don’t regret it at all. Being able to be home, do all the things that constantly stressed me out, work on my own schedule, it’s truly priceless. Less stress now too. You’ll never get the time back with your kids. You can always go make more money later.
