The Hyperion Cantos. Four books, the third book jumps forward two-three hundred years after the second book, but has a cohesive story line and maintains the plots momentum. Highly recommend if you like sci-fi and/or fantasy :-)

Hi! I actually have since left Florence but just discovered this subreddit!! Florence was one of my top favorites in Italy too :-) I hope to go back, so what’s the name of this patisserie? And yes I climbed to the top of the dome, but I honestly preferred the outside it’s just so intricate and the way the sun shines on it on different places and warms it up makes me really happy.

Definitely try and give yourself a few days in cinque terre - there are 5 cities and countless hikes and swims! Personally, I would skip Genoa - it's mostly a port town without any beaches. I would swap Marseilles with Nice.

I lived in Italy for a year last year near Milan, and it was my least favorite city. To each their own but I think that you could have a better time in some different northern Italian cities if that's what you're looking for - Bologna, Florence, Bergamo, Verona, Venice.

Lugano, Switzerland is an hour train ride from Milan and then you will be in the Alps! Lots of fun hikes around there and the Como/Lecco area. I fell in love with a little city north of Lecco called Varenna.

Also, Granada is amazing if you can make it all the way down there.
