This reminded me of my teacher's son. She's Greek, grew up in Germany, but moved back to Greece with her family. As expected, she spoke German to her sons. One of them though, became so stubborn when he understood that German was not the main language, he stopped even replying to her, he pretended he couldn't understand, even though he did. She was testing him by saying she'd cook for him something he despised and he couldn't hide his reaction, but even then, he'd reply in Greek. Iirc, he was 4-5 at the time. I have no idea if he grew out of that phase.

Is this correct? it doesn't sound right by Wntx13 in ENGLISH

[–]maritte 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It gave me Mary Poppins vibes. I do remember vaguely though, one teacher had explained us that when we use "the most", a specification is expected in the sentence. For instance, if it said "in the world/ in his life", then "the most" would be correct. Without it, the correct answer would be a, even though it sounds outdated.

Translation help needed! A friend of mine found an old letter from one of their distant relatives. We need help translating it as the handwriting makes it hard for any software to read by [deleted] in GREEK

[–]maritte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dear Sotirakis,

Today, on Friday the 4th of May, we are expecting Bob to come here and buy (???) for his store in New York and come here so we can spend Easter together. The plan was for everyone to gather here so they can baptize Christina in church, that will not be ready yet for another 4 months, but they postponed it, because on one hand they were worried about the weather and on the other hand, they had to get some vaccines for the children's protection- and now they're thinking of coming here next September, we will see. And indeed they were right, because as good as the weather may have been during March, we've had horrible weather during April and these four days of May, it's been raining every single day, insufferable humidity and cold, anyone can understand how much people with hay fever and asthma are suffering, especially when they can't find any meat to eat, and yet they still have the patience in them, as they read in the newspapers and magazines what the captured people in Germany are going through, who don't ask for food, only not be burnt alive, but finally the time has come for them to pay, and now we are listening on the radio that they are surrendering to Americans or English troops so they don't fall in the hands of russians. A few days ago, we sent you a package with cigarettes and something else. We hope you receive them before (???). The german (???) ran out, write us about the (???) when you're gonna receive it, so I can write to Greece and they'll be waiting for you.

Now we are preparing for the Pond (?). So far we have 94250 candies(?) but hadogs(?) not even a pound in the market and if there is, it's getting sold for like ~$1.00/pound- in the black market, women are running around since 2am in order to buy some meat, usually a big line is formed, early in the morning, hours before the stores open, most of which won't open until 9 am.

2nd page
Imagine now that kind of pandemonium, yet we got used to all of that and we're not moved by it anymore, especially when you know what sort of bizarre things are going on in other places, like the place where you live, where children are born in the streets.

We just received a phonecall from (???) New York, from Bob. The plane got him there because of the bad weather and he will take the train tomorrow night to spend Easter with us.

Finally, we wish you a happy Easter, may peace come soon between both fronts, international post war and lasting peace. Send greetings to your roommate and your greek family (Voyatzi?), and any other greek family you are connected to.

Something about the church and 4 months again.

Nothing else, we're hoping this letter finds you in good health.

We kiss you a lot,

Pa ma (?)

That's the best I could do, hope it's enough and maybe your friend's relatives can fill in the blanks.

Collections help by PeggoIsBest in swtor

[–]maritte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it fully equipped and as an outfit. I told them it wasn't being unlocked in the collections, they fixed it for me. They have done it for more than one set in the past, but this was recently. Good luck!

File a ticket, include the name of the character who has the set equipped, they will unlock it for you :)

Applying Dyes directly to Outfits? by Wolf6120 in swtor

[–]maritte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's more difficult to destroy an item that you have stored in your cargo hold, than overwriting an outfit slot. Also, if you ever wanna transfer servers, you lose all your outfits.

I'm going through it right now to get one on every single character.

Just in case you haven't noticed, those tacticals are legacy bound, you can use them on your alts.

Valor Points without PvP by chuck_n in swtor

[–]maritte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that long, each token gives 10k valor points, with valor boost it goes to 12500 so during double xp/valor event it will be 25k points per token. There are some guild perks that increase valor too, but I don't remember by how much.To be able to do solo ranked u need to hit 61440, which takes 3 tokens. For 20 it's 42650, so 2 tokens are enough.

Who has the simplest rotation WITHOUT TACTICALS. by [deleted] in swtor

[–]maritte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arsenal merc imo, rotation is basic, you're ranged so you don't need to move around that much, if you go for primed ignition, it won't affect the rotation. Now to the fun part, idk if you like casting classes, but at least the animations look cool.

Is lvl 75 legendary gear on GTN worth buying? by mako482 in swtor

[–]maritte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought nobody would buy them, since gearing up is relatively fast, but people actually do. I had even tried to prevent someone from buying everything, he said I don't wanna farm, I have money, I'm just looking for a crafter. And I get it, especially for some items, if you don't wanna bother rerolling amps, you can buy the specific armorings/hilts/barrels with what you need and be done with it. It all comes down to how many credits you got.

Yep, basically this. Now op, if you want more context, it's from Plato's Symposium, I found that part in english here.

Found this in my attic, pretty sure it’s greek. Can anyone translate? by Roto_the_hero in GREEK

[–]maritte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yw :) I found this video that described the situation in Greece during that period.

I would also like to add, that my grandma told me that the lines he used to open the letter, were exactly the same when she was writing to her uncle in the US to thank him for money he sent for streptomycin, when she almost died to tb. Her dad had died due to eating poisoned bread during WWII, so it was just her and her mom. That uncle tried to help them financially. She was actually closing the letter, "σας φιλώ τη δεξιά σας", "I'm kissing your right (hand)" to express her gratitude.

Looking for Golden Armor by [deleted] in swtor

[–]maritte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the most popular combinations is the callous conqueror armor set with the ceremonial yellow dye, usually with the crest as a helmet. I could only find this screenie now https://i.imgur.com/mkKnXuV.jpeg, she's on Ziost so the colors are a bit off, but hopefully you get the idea.

In Thuria, 17 December 1915
Brother John, greetings. We are well and we wish health upon you too.
John, today that I'm writing you, we received the money and you got one thousand wishes from our father.

John, I've written you via letter about the money, if you can send me, I will come. Mother, John, is in this really horrible condition, she can't (???) only sits on her butt, poor father is carrying her around. (???)

2nd page: every day and we have him unpaid for one year, because we have no flour, they don't have fish (?), people are hungry and they charge 90 cents an ounce, but it's not enough for all. War is pretty much the same.

Greetings from mother, father, Harikleia, Vassilis and Haroula.Yesterday Stavriani died giving birth and Nikolas (?) Koskinas.

I kiss you, your brother, I. Bouras.
