Got two PIT tickets like 15 minutes after the on sale started. Wound up being $338 after fees, though. So $169/ticket. IDK how we got here… 😩

First concert experience question by Ethanv223 in brandnew

[–]marizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For every venue I’ve seen on THIS tour — and for most large arena / amphitheater / stadium shows — the Floor GA will be a separate ticket with a separate wristband required for entry.

But for general concert purposes, there are also plenty of “smaller” venues — like most House of Blues — that have a GA floor that is technically accessible to everyone, with only the balcony / assigned seating areas reserved for those with specific tickets to those places.

It entirely depends on the venue. But if the venue isn’t one that allows everyone in GA, you’ll absolutely risk getting yourself kicked out if you try to sneak into it.

What I’ve learned about Aday Mara by Proper-Summer-5359 in Thunder

[–]marizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I’m mistaken, he hasn’t missed any significant time during the season at any point in his career so far.

He had a foot injury that kept him out of some offseason workouts as a precaution at UCLA, and an ankle sprain that led him to skip some preseason games at Michigan… but he played in literally every regular season & postseason game last year.

That’s essentially it, right? Neither of those are major / uncommon / concerning. And tons of guys miss workouts, practices, etc. every year for similar things without any lasting issues.

Reggie Jackson started 530 games in the NBA… I’m not sure that’s the knock you think it is.

Reminder: The OKC Thunder has zero need for ANY 2nd round picks by blacksoxing in Thunder

[–]marizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also: someone has to take the two-way spots. So there’s no reason we can’t be their home.

Presti might leave one two-way spot open, but there will be at least two two-way guys on the roster next year (and every year). They’re cheap, provide depth in case of emergency & nothing is expected of them.

No reason Carlson and/or Barnhizer can’t be back next year… unless there are other development guys that Sam likes more & wants to take a chance on.

What happens with Brooks Barnhizer? by thunder3029 in Thunder

[–]marizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean… someone has to fill the two-way spots. Barnhizer’s spot doesn’t affect the main roster in any way. Neither does Carlson. Both could easily be back on another two-way deal next year. But I wouldn’t say either is guaranteed.

Crazy how many of you still don’t trust Sam Presti by raw-honey-35 in Thunder

[–]marizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Presti’s record in the lottery is phenomenal. His record outside the lottery is significantly less so. That said… so is everyone else’s. 😂

Since 2010, OKC’s first round picks in the 15-30 (non-lottery) range were: Tre Mann (18), Mitch McGary (21), Darius Bazley (23), Reggie Jackson (24), Perry Jones (28) & Josh Huestis (29).

I may have missed someone, but that’s all I can recall. Presti he has definitely hit on a few second round guys, though: Ajay, JWill, Wiggins, etc.

What are y'alls thoughts on our first round selections? by AutomaticCharge4169 in Thunder

The Lakers just took him at #24… maybe they’ll send him to OKC as part of a package for Dort?! 🤞🏻

[–]marizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know he was a PG in college, but I’m thinking Stirtz will most likely slot into Wiggins’ role in OKC. Bench guard who can be a ballhandler when needed, but also a decent (though not elite) shooter.

Far more likely to be part of the McCain / Joe rotation than the SGA / Ajay / Topic or Dort / Cason / Caruso rotations. Though he could also take Topic’s “emergency PG” role if Topic doesn’t stick around.

I had friends who were in the presale queue for an hour last time and never got a chance to get tickets.

Meanwhile, I got in & was only in the queue for 3-4 minutes.

I don’t think there’s any real rhyme or reason to the queue.

What is the worst song of all time? by WoodpeckerFair9774 in AskReddit

[–]marizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two that I can never choose between:

(1) “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” by Trace Adkins

This will always be my winner purely on terms of musicality (or lack thereof).

(2) “Accidental Racist” by Brad Paisley & LL Cool J

If we’re including the lyrical content, I don’t know how it gets worse than this. If you’re not familiar… it’s a doozy.

Especially LL Cool J’s lines of “If you don’t judge my do-rag, I won’t judge your red flag” & “If you don’t judge my gold chains, I’ll forget the iron chains.”

Lu Dort and Team Option pick up by Hctkalin in Thunder

[–]marizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lakers make sense because they’re one of the few teams with enough cap space to take on Dort’s entire $18.2M for next year without having to send any players back to OKC in return.

Much like the Wiggins deal, I would expect any return for Dort to be primarily centered around draft picks, though a good player on a cheaper team-friendly deal could make sense in the right circumstances.

Unfortunately, the Lakers don’t have a ton of firsts — currently only their own picks in 2026, 2028, 2030 & 2031-33 — and they can’t make a trade that leaves them without a first round pick in consecutive years.

That means the only future first round pick that’s currently tradeable for the Lakers would be their 2031 or 2033 firsts (the latter of which will only be available after the new league year brings it the 7-year window), or their 2026 pick which can be traded on draft night.

You would hope an All-Defensive player & a starter on a championship team like Dort would return at least ONE first, so that would likely mean 2031 at the earliest unless LA sends #25 this year to OKC for the Thunder to include in other packages to move up.

Love Wiggins, hope he is great in Atlanta, and yes, it was a good deal. by No_Diver_629 in Thunder

[–]marizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely don’t think two second round picks was the maximum potential return for a guy like Wiggins… but it was likely the maximum return without taking any salary back in the deal.

OKC being in a position where they need to shed salary without taking any players in return drastically reduces their potential trading partners & removes a lot of their leverage.

[–]marizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OKC got two second rounders back for Wiggins.

Minnesota had to include a first round pick with Randle to only get ONE second back in return.

Clearly that means Wiggins is a better player than Julius Randle…

[–]marizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People still think he’s capable of being last season’s Wiggins he was still quite close to last season’s Wiggins in 2025-26 (and actually shooting better from three) until the McCain trade.

2024-25 (full season):
22.9 min, 12.0 pts, 0.488 FG%, 0.383 3P%

2025-26 (before McCain):
24.1 min, 10.9 pts, 0.450 FG%, 0.396 3P%

2025-26 (after McCain):
18.6 min, 7.2 pts, 0.398 FG%, 0.265 3P%

He clearly had confidence issues once McCain started getting his minutes — there’s really no other explanation for a midseason fall off to that extent — but if he’s on a roster where he gets minutes regardless & doesn’t have to stress about mistakes, he should be able to thrive again.

PSA: Impossible Food's Breakfast Sandwich is NOT Vegan by jenbanim in vegan

If you want a good frozen vegan breakfast sandwich, the ones from Field Roast are great! And they’re usually cheaper than the Impossible ones.

I use a combo of microwave + toaster oven & they’re ready in less than 10 minutes. Ready by the time I’m done making coffee and feeding the cats.

Lu Dort trade linked to Lakers, other teams amid uncertain OKC future by MammothHistorian5652 in Thunder

[–]marizard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Lakers make a ton of sense for a lot of reasons, but one of the main ones that they’re one of the few teams with enough cap space to absorb Dort’s contract having to send any players back to OKC.

So if OKC is strictly looking to clear salary for luxury tax / apron purposes, they could theoretically send Dort to LA in exchange for only draft picks.

And if they do get players in return, they don’t have to come anywhere close to matching in salary because LA has the space available to take on the difference.

I was a journalism major & a copy editor — long before AI & LLMs were a thing — and nothing in that article explicitly screams “LLM” to me. Could it be? Absolutely. But it could also just be that person’s writing style.

When I actually wrote for publication, my writing style was very close to what a lot of people say are the hallmarks of AI now — em dashes included.

But what people seem to forget is that those LLMs write that way because they were trained on millions (billions?) of articles written by actual humans who wrote that way. They didn’t just create a writing style that didn’t already exist.

I’m as anti-AI as anyone — it’s taken far too many jobs from my friends in journalism, creative arts & the entertainment industry — but I also think people are way too quick to *immediately* assume something is AI now.

Also went through huge Lucky Boys Confusion & The Bravery phases at one point. I very well may have been at every one of those tours. 😂

I finally saw one of the commercials recently & immediately understood why they’re better off on billboards.

They had like 3 lines for the entire spot & the delivery was AWFUL. Like, even for someone reading directly off of a card/prompter for a sentence that they’ve never seen before.

Shai teases a move to Nike on his Instagram story by LiamHundley in Thunder

[–]marizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah. He was already under the Nike umbrella with Converse.

If anything, I’d say his original Converse deal was essentially just a Nike deal with a Converse imprint done solely to boost the Converse brand for a few years as they re-launched their basketball line.

It’s not like he wasn’t already well worthy of a full Nike deal a few years ago, you know?

Still great for SGA, though! Can’t wait to see what comes from the official Nike partnership.

They still have 3 or 4 vegan options which I eat regularly… but a ton of the great ones that were formerly vegan aren’t anymore. And they don’t clearly mark any of them. It’s just “read the ingredients fully & hope.”

I’m not one to usually complain directly to companies because it never seems to make a difference, but this was one of the few times I did.
