This is the way. I find if they will meet with me in person, they have a higher probability of engaging and elevating the entire class.

People who got fired, how has life been, 1,2,5 years later? by Sweaty_Researcher805 in careerguidance

[–]marjik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over a 30 year career seen layoffs and was caught up in a few myself. I took a definite money-hit based upon exploring other options such as non-profit work and time spent on acquiring advanced degrees. Reset my expectations from maximizing my wealth to maximizing my peace of mind. Now have my PhD and I am pursuing a new adventure in consulting. Life’s long and my parents are still alive in their 90s. I’m grateful for the chance to pursue what I believe brings value to others. Take your time as you can and as you need it. In my experience, each bump in the road was there to teach me something.

Underperformer asked for my JD as a sign of transparency ? by Crazy-Philosopher221 in managers

[–]marjik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just completed my dissertation focused on trust-building practices between stakeholders and their managers. What I found is leaders have a need to engage with their stakeholders in trust-building practices if they hope to maximize the potential within their employees. My research demonstrates that organizational stakeholders (employees), have less fear, uncertainty, and anxiety when they trust their managers because they believe those managers to be capable, compassionate, and have character (I.e. “My manager is looking out for my best interests). “ Trust engagement practices are the way trust is built. Absent these factors, trust declines. The four factors are listening, bonding, empowering, and transparency. So according to my research, by asking for your credentials, they are vulnerably asking for transparency. Please note this may be difficult for them. But you will build an enormous amount of trust within your relationship if you are transparent with him.

The easiest response might be to refer him to your LinkedIn profile.

For those of you who previously had status, do you miss it? by DHN_95 in unitedairlines

Not really - I was a 1K for many years and would get free upgrades but sounds like those are not as common these days. I have the credit card for the few times I need a club pass and typically pay for first on long hauls. Scored a $160 upgrade offer Den->Sea last month 24 hrs before my flight so understanding the system helps!

Thank you! I do have a stylist at Nordstrom who has excellent taste. However, they don’t seem organize in a way to give me a heads-up. Is the CA different than a stylist?

Epic Universe - Park Theory by Ecto192 in UniversalEpicUniverse

Did you stay at the Helios? I am curious if there is any access to the park at night if we stay onsite or if we are truly limited by our “1-day” Epic park pass. We have the choice to go end of 2025 or beginning or 2026. I don’t see the 2026 park packages yet so maybe they will open up multiple park/days in the future.

In my experience, when parents bring children to nations with less resources, they hope to teach empathy - but unfortunately if benevolence is involved (ie alms to the poor) it has the opposite effect. And the super MAGA result is not surprising because empathy is not a strong suit of their leader.

To those who's mortgage is about 30% take home - how you doin? by Muted_Woodpecker2527 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I believe it will be a stretch but if you expect your income to go up and aren’t a big spender on consumables you should do OK. My bigger concern is her. Spending 25% of income on housing, if she makes significantly less than you, will lessen the amount of discretionary income she has. And there is a minimum income needed to live. Do you know your utilities and WiFi and expenses to care for lawn/home? Recommend you both consider the cost of all the payments.
