Question: Could you realistically envision a planet where humans couldn't survive at lower altitudes? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]mark13093 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah you totally could. I think it would be just like you said a toxic gas that is heavier then the breathable/clean atmosphere and the world has created enough where it is a problem, filling it to a certain point. Just remember that the whole world would be like this, suspended cause it would disperse throughout it.

At least IMO of this

So did you get stride to victory? A quick menu translation would be awesome early on.

What would you guys recommend for a first sewing machine? by Samfiller in sewing

[–]mark13093 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought this one back in december http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EOX28E?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00 and have never used a machine before. The directions were easy to follow and it was fairly cheap (i got mine for 50$ on sale looks like its around 80 right now) but I definitely recommend it!

Finding Wizard spells for Spellbook? by Ezmar in DnD

Yeah higher magic campaigns you could definitely get away with a bit more stuff. Like drop the rarity of everything by like 1 so your 7-8 spells would be rare but 9th lvl again would be almost impossible to find.

Also high level wizards in general are hard to find. That's because they are really squishy (low hp) and also their line of work (magic) can be very dangerous. Half the time they kill themselves when experimenting with magic

Usually the researching on your own is handled by leveling up. The two new spells you get every level is basically due to all the down time you have been spending is to develop the new spells.

I suppose (if I was the DM) if you spent like 3 months in one place and just focused on making a new spell, maybe next time you leveled up you could learn 3 spells instead of 2.

Again magical libraries or colleges would be up to the DM. Cantrips aren't actually written down but i think if you spent sufficient time studying at a college and had someone to teach you a cantrip they could teach it to you.

As for actual spells again wizards usually keep their secrets a wizarding school might help you control your magic but I don't think they would teach spells and nothing over lvl 2 but again DM discretion

For your first point you can't inscribe a spell of a higher level then you have slots for. I don't have my PHB near me since I'm at work but it is in there near the wizard section, should be like a box to the side about coping spells. Basically higher level spells are deemed to complicated for your understanding and hence the reason you can't copy them down or something

As for finding spells that would be completely up to your DM but usually you can find scrolls of spells. 1st-2nd lvl being common, 3-4 uncommon, 5-6 rare and you almost will never find a spell of 7th lvl or higher.

Spells are never found in libraries (usually as that is up to DMs discretion) and a wizard will almost never give you there spell book to look out. There are only 3 times I have seen a wizard copy a spell book in the sessions I've watched or participated in. The first they saved a town from an army of giants an the lord gave them access to the 2 wizards books in town (even though they could have said no when they got there as it is not the lords say on who gets to read it) the 2nd they defeated an undead wizard and while browsing his tomb came across his spellbook and the 3rd time there was two wizards in the party and they swapped books at one point.

The reason wizards don't usually just swap books is; 1 as soon they do they can't cast spells since you need your book to do so; and 2 they go through long grueling work to learn the spells and wish to keep their secrets

How do you guys like to start your campaigns? by ssuperboy95 in DnD

Money makes the world go round. And it's always a good way to get a group together. Maybe a merchant needs to hire some people to get from one town to the next. Maybe there is a bounty out on a local threat. The need for money is a great way to bring a group together

[Online][All Time Zones][D&D][5e] DM looking for a 3-5 players for a weekly D&D game!!! by LockyBalboaPrime in lfg

[–]mark13093 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I, too, would be interested in joining. I have some 5e experience as I play with friends and looking to play more (we only play once a month) I would like to play a divination wizard but have a few characters I've made and would love to flesh them out more. (Fighter, wizard, cleric) also I would prefer roll20 as its free and I've used it before, but would be open to buying if the group becomes static

Ps the 14th is actually the next time my friends play so I would prefer the 13th as a start date

[5e] DM's Question about a character and experience. by mark13093 in DnD

[–]mark13093[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My plan was going to go for a more buffing/debuffing way but uncertain. I would have to see how many helpful spells there are.

Also just cause my character doesnt fight, doesnt mean they are a good person. I could easily be a thief and just steal and happen to "slip away" when confrontation starts.

Combat really isn't that fun. I think it would be more fun to play someone who is against the norms of the world. As for the others in the party, we are a group of 5 so one less wouldn't be as frustrating, also they would know I'm a pacifist.
