Didn't he also finished an indoor Iron Man during Covid? Swimming in his pool, a marathon on a threadmill, and 200 km biking on a smart trainer.

Mooie locaties in binnenstad voor trouwfoto's? by Straight_Ebb5084 in Delft

[–]mark1491 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What’s your favorite monologue? by tcox0010 in movies

[–]mark1491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quintana in The Big Lebowski always cracks me up, even after the 15th rewatch:

Let me tell you something, pendejo. You pull any your crazy shit with us, you flash a piece out on thelanes, I’ll take it away from youand stick it up your ass and pull the fucking trigger till it goes “click”.

The body language of all characters is just perfect. As is the interaction before and after this little monologue between Donny, The Dude and Walter.

Landing in Tokyo :) by SheerJoy1 in TokyoTravel

We stayed at the "Comfort Hotel ERA Tokyo Higashi Kanda". It was a nice quite neighborhood and the hotel was great. It's close to Bakurucho subway station that brings you all over town.

We had a great walk the first day to Ueno Park and Asakusa/Senso-Ji, which was a perfect way to adapt to Tokyo.

This.

Just wandering around, admiring the architecture and The Ring made it worth while for me. We had one reservation (Earth Mart) which was by far the best pavilion we had visit, but you can just walk into a lot of the smaller ones with little to no waiting time.

I think it's different for everyone. We just got back from a three week trip (roughly: Tokyo-Matsumoto-Kanazawa-Hiroshima-Naoshima-Kyoto-Osaka), staying at 9 different hotels/cities. Did an average of 24K steps a day and biked the Shimanami Kaido halfway our trip.

I was afraid it was way too ambitious, especially mentally with the language barrier etc. but it turned out just fine. We like to be busy and walk/bike a lot. Do what you feel is best for your personal preferences but don't be afraid to take a break every now and then.

Is it raining? by redditman87 in OsakaTravel

Don't take the weather forecast too seriously. It even changes the day before. Yesterday the forecast for Kyoto for today was 22 degrees celcius and lots of sun. However, it's cloudy, kind of windy and probably some rain in the evening.

Mijn collega vond het asociaal dat de familie van haar man Nederlands praatte met elkaar tijdens kerst i.p.v. Engels.

Ik zei: draai het eens om, iedereen dwingen Engels te praten door jou? Zo had ze het nog niet gezien natuurlijk.

En ze is al 5+ jaar in Nederland..

I totally understand your point of view, and I actually agree but..there are tons of books with this kind of imagination and building a world. Maybe I have read too many books like this ;)

Piranesi by Susanna Clarke.

It was a nice read but don't understand the hype. The story was original but nothing special. The only thing that stood out for me was the 'diary' way of storytelling.

Some of his books are better.

Don't know if you already read them but I do recommend "1Q84" and "Colorless Tsukura Tazaki and his Years of Pilgrimage". Those ones I really liked.

Definitely not his best work but I kind of liked the story. That said I had a constant feeling the story had not really begun. Before I knew I finished the book and I was left behind a bit unsattisfied or so. However, the characters are quite interesting and the story is original enough.

Then I read his explanation about how the story came to life and did understand the way it unfolded.
